A cold, slick tentacle slid toward the doorway. I snapped fully awake, but by then it was already too late to struggle free. I had never imagined I would end up at the mercy of an octopus, and fear knotted together with panic as those wet, slippery tentacles wrapped tightly around me. Seeing no way out, I shut my eyes and forced myself to go still, hoping that if I stopped fighting, it might hurt me less. But just then, the octopus suddenly shuddered.
