Tanya’s POV The dirt in the training yard was still extremely cold from last night. My bare feet made soft crunching sounds as I crossed to the center, the cold seeping in and sharpening my focus. The air was sharper now too, the kind that scraped down your lungs and woke you all the way to your bones. I could see my breath whenever I exhaled. That felt… right. It all felt grounding, that little cloud of proof that I was still here. The last of the early-morning haze was lifting from the yard, and the almost dying light from the torches along the fence made the frost sparkle faintly.
