Check-up

Elle woke the next morning, to Kayla's high pitched laughter, she was on a call and Elle's guess was George, she wondered what she was doing in her room so early in morning.

"... alright see you around" Kayla dropped the call and jumped on Elle "a very good morning to youuuu" she said as she tickled Elle until she was finally wide awake " for goodness sake Kay cut it out" Elle protested. As her immediate elder sister , Kay was the closest person to her and her absolute best friend in the world but sometimes she was just really annoying, "well is it a crime to give my baby sister a warm good morning when I finally get to see her after ages?" Kay drawled flailing her hands and pouting her lips, Elle laughed, she had almost forgotten how dramatic her sister could be

"nope I'm no baby sister, I am a grown woman and yes it is a crime if you're disrupting my sleep by 7am in the morning and badging into my room you know, there are some etiquettes you still need to learn" Elle rolled her eyes and Kay just gave her a smirk

"who was on the phone" Elle asked getting out of bed and putting on her slippers "George..." Kay responded suddenly engrossed in something on her phone , and there was that feeling again at the pit of Elle's stomach, she really had to stop having these crazy feelings because She's a woman now who should have out grown all the silly crushes she's definitely not a high school junior

"what did he say " she sputtered trying not to act weird upon hearing his name but Kay raised her head a slight frown marring her face...

right, Elle thought, she never asks about Kay's conversations with her friends so she tried to get off the hook

" I mean he's mum's cardiologist right? didn't he say anything about her?" she shrugged trying to seem uninterested praying her sister doesn't see through her act

"ohhh that.. he did say mum has an appointment today so ..." Kay said pausing to give Elle the Kay-hook look, "would you be a good daughter and sister and go in my stead?" she pleaded, when ever she does this Elle looses her will to say no so she nicknamed the look, "okay I'll do it, but why can't you go anyway?" Elle threw a look her way and headed for the bathroom

"I've got this appointment with my boss to see a client and it's going to be really long, I just don't want mummy going alone although she's far from alone whenever she's with George, but... sometimes it scares me to leave her all by her self even for a minute" Elle smiled at her feeling sorry for all the responsibilities on her shoulder with the rest of them away ken in kaduna with his family, Ralph serving as a priest in the US and Elle constantly away from home.

Kayla hated falling short in her responsibilities so Elle could see how hard it was for her.

she carried on like all the responsibilities were nothing, Elle once told her that if they had super powers Kayla's would have been always putting up an okay front, the only time she ever saw her break was when she broke up with David, her first boyfriend ever, and since then she had been in other relationships that had gotten broken but she never even bats an eye she just kept moving on like her life was perfect and Elle secretly envied her strength, she could never be like Kayla, her pains get written all over her and just like her mum she still struggled with the loss of her brother even after so many years

Elle shut the bathroom door and told Kayla she would join the rest of the family at breakfast,

she hastily took her bath and doned a grey cargo pant and a white tank top, knots her braids in a burn with two strands falling over her face, she then put on her sneakers and she headed out , approaching the kitchen smell of pancakes wafted to her nostrils, she hastened her steps and reached the kitchen on seeing the pancakes on the slab she made to pick one up and got her hand smacked.

"wait till it's served on the table" Kayla reprimanded, Elle grumbled and then began helping in setting the table, their mother walked in a minute later fully dressed for her appointment with her dad right behind her in his comfy shorts, Elle smiled at them and exchanged greetings, she hoped her mum was in a good mood today it will make things so much easier

after breakfast Elle and her mum hopped into her father's Ford jeep which she had pleaded with him to use, she couldn't get on her mother's old Camry it just didn't give the vibe. the drive to the medical center was smooth, and they arrived in record time. after her check up raelle's mum after having a chit chat with George told her she could go home by herself and Elle should catch up with George prompting a silly grin on his face, Elle wondered if she was trying match make them or perhaps she just liked George too much, but he agreed and showed her around the health center after her mum had left and even bought her lunch, ...God he was so thoughtful... Elle was clearly smitten by him but to afraid to act on her emotions so she tried to keep all their conversations on a casual level and avoid flirtations, but she couldn't help but steal glances at him when she was sure he wasn't paying attention and damn! he could be described as a Nigerian Adonis, George exuded a captivating presence, his features chiseled and refined. His dark skin had a warm, golden undertone, like the richest chocolate or the smoothest mahogany. His eyes were deep and piercing, shining like polished onyx or the night sky, with a hint of mischief and kindness.

His hair was dark, luscious, and well trimmed.His strong jawline and defined cheekbones gave him a chiseled, sculpted appearance, as if carved from the finest marble.his broad shoulders and lean physique radiated confidence and strength, making him a commanding presence in any room.And how he carried himself with such fluid grace and effortless style evoked a sense of power and sophistication, he was indeed a true masterpiece of nature's craftsmanship. Elle wondered how he could exist in Kayla's space and not get her to fall for him, perhaps Kay sees the dangers that comes with too much perfection.

The drive back to Elle's home was a rather quiet one, with Elle lost in her thoughts and George concentrating on the road. the car finally pulled over right in front of the olumides' building

"I guess this is the part where I say thank you for an exquisite date?" Elle joked unfastening her sit belt, it wouldn't hurt to be a little bit daring she thought,

"ohh I say the pleasure is all mine princess, maybe if you'd stick around a little longer this time you might enjoy even more exquisite dates" his lips curled in a sly grin revealing a hint of dimples, Elle knew this was too much, she gave a nervous laughter "we'll see about that" she said as she came down from the car.
