Kayla had made arrangements for a dinner out with her family and had invited George to be a part of it, when Elle had asked her that afternoon that what all the fuse was about "it's not like you celebrated your first client this much" she had said, but Kayla had abruptly reminded her of the story of the lost sheep in the Bible "thisssss is my lost client that has been found" Kayla had retorted, she kept rustling and checking out dresses and at intervals tossing them away, Raelle looked at her for a while and then walked to the bed, sitting next to her " you know you'd look drop dead gorgeous no matter what you wear right?" Elle said putting her hand around her shoulders "but you already know that and you don't put so much efforts in your looks what's the change today" she continued with a thoughtful look on her face "well aren't you the worse, when it comes to comforting words" Kayla responded rolling her eyes ********************* As they arrived at the luxurious venue, the aroma of freshly baked bread and simmering sauces filled the air, setting the tone for a delightful evening of good food, warm conversation, and family bonding. Kayla, Raelle and their parents were all dressed nicely and we're very chatty, their mother as usual was quiet and looked completely lost and distant, she had insisted on staying back saying she wasn't feeling too well, it took a lot of cajoling on the part of raelle to get her to come out, Raelle sat next to her stroking her arm at intervals in other to make her more comfortable. As they chatted and laughed, the door swung open and George walked in with his signature stride. His warm smile and sparkling eyes immediately lit up the table, and the family greeted him with affectionate hugs. Raelle's heart skipped a beat as she felt a flutter in her chest, a mix of excitement and nervousness. Kayla had mentioned he was joining them for dinner, but Raelle hadn't thought he would make it seeing as he was very busy. As they settled in and George took his seat, the conversation flowed effortlessly, like they were all one perfect family. after an hour of a hearty chatter, eating, drinking and laughter George said he needed to go to the restroom, as he walked away Kayla made a toast to many more happy dinners like this one and Elle, their dad and even their mum all clicked glasses after which Kayla left to use the bathroom too. kay and George stayed for a considerable long time, Simon became worried and then asked raelle to go check up on them, and she agreed when raelle opened the door to the bathroom she was met with a sight that made her heart skip a beat. Kayla and George were locked in an intimate embrace, their lips tangled in a deep kiss. Raelle's eyes widened in shock, her mind racing with disbelief. She felt like she had been punched in the gut, her breath knocked out of her. She couldn't move, couldn't speak, couldn't tear her eyes away from the scene unfolding before her. kayla and George were oblivious to her presence, lost in their own little world. Raelle's thoughts swirled with confusion, hurt, and a hint of betrayal. As Raelle stood there, frozen in shock, Kayla and George suddenly broke apart, their faces flushed with guilt and surprise. They turned to face her, their eyes wide with alarm, as if they had been caught red-handed. Raelle's presence seemed to snap them back to reality, and they exchanged a nervous glance, unsure of how to react. George took a step back, his eyes fixed on Raelle, Kayla's face went pale. The room was silent, the only sound Raelle's heavy breathing, as she struggled to process what she had just witnessed. why hadn't Kay told her they were dating, she thought they didn't keep such things from each other. Kayla's eyes darted to Raelle's face, searching for a reaction, while George's expression turned from shock to concern, as if he realized the gravity of the situation. The tension was palpable, as the three of them stood there, locked in a silent standoff, unsure of what would happen next. "dad asked me to check on you two, you've been gone for a while" Raelle finally broke the silence, "I would head back so they don't get worried about me too" Raelle turned to leave not caring if they followed her or not. "s**t! she's mad at me" Kayla said after Elle had left, "we shouldn't have" she turned to George with unsure eyes "yeah..we better get going"George replied he looked upset too. he had told her he didn't want this complicated relationship to keep going on between them that they had to define it, but Kayla had been adamant and too excited, she said it was only going to be tonight and then tomorrow they were going to talk about it. he felt terrible when he saw Elle standing there, he didn't know why he felt that way but he knew he had hurt her. they all went back to the table and continued their dinner but the tension between Elle, George and Kayla was suffocating, they weren't speaking directly to each other. when they got home after the dinner, both parents headed to bed, leaving raelle and Kayla in the living room. Raelle stormed into her room, her sister kayla following closely behind, trying to explain the situation. "Raelle, listen, it's not what you think!" Kayla pleaded, but Raelle was having none of it. She spun around, her eyes blazing with anger and hurt. "What I think? You were making out with George, Kayla! What else am I supposed to think?, I don't know why but I thought we had a better relationship, we don't keep stuffs like this from each other." Kayla took a deep breath, trying to calm her sister down. "Raelle, George and I... we've had this thing going on, I mean it's not love or a relationship. It just happened, and we didn't want it to ruin our friendship so we left it unattended to." Raelle's expression turned from anger to shock, her mind reeling with this new information. "what? You've been sleeping with him?" Kayla shook her head furiously, "no, it happened just once" "well it looked to me as if it was about to happen again tonight" Raelle retorted "it was the excitement and everything, I wanted to tell you, I was just so embarrassed"Kayla said tears welling up in her eyes. "I didn't mean to keep this from you, Raelle. I just didn't know how to tell you." Raelle's face crumbled, her emotions raw and exposed. she didn't know why she was this upset, she shouldn't be. "You should have told me, Kayla." she managed, "I need time to process this, you should leave now" Kayla looked like she had been struck across the face, but she nodded and left quietly shutting the door behind her.
