Chapter 24: An Awkward Encounter Exposed

421 Words
Dora froze. It couldn’t be… She turned slowly, her mind going blank. Keith was standing at the door, a graceful woman by his side. The woman wore a plain cotton white dress and white loafers, with soft hair and wispy bangs—she looked like a fresh-faced student, gentle and charming. She clung to Keith’s arm, smiling sweetly. Luna Liu. Dora recognized her instantly—she was far more pleasant than Iris Wei. Keith spotted Dora the moment he walked in. The store was nearly empty, and the way Jasper stood close to her looked anything but platonic. His eyes narrowed, a cold glint flickering in them. Their gazes locked. Dora’s heart raced, guilt flooding her veins—as if she’d been caught cheating. Why was he back so soon? He’d clearly said two or three days! Keith’s status guaranteed VIP treatment. The store manager hurried over immediately. “Mr. Fu, the new styles are ready for you—this way, please.” “Can we look at bracelets first?” Luna’s voice was soft and elegant, like a breeze. “Hmm.” Keith nodded, glancing back at Dora before walking away with Luna. Just then, Jasper stepped closer, sliding the earring onto Dora’s ear and tucking a strand of hair behind it. “I knew it would suit you.” Dora stiffened, panic crashing over her. Before she could yank away, an icy voice cut through the tension—so cold it sent a shiver down her spine. “One carat? Pathetically small. She’s always preferred larger stones.” Keith’s words were loud enough for everyone to hear. He shot Jasper a pointed look—one that screamed “she’s mine.” Dora’s heart shattered. The humiliation and embarrassment left her frozen in place. Jasper was equally shocked. “You… know each other?” He’d never interacted with Keith before, but he’d felt the man’s hostility clearly. Dora snapped out of her daze, yanking the earring off and hurling it back at Jasper. “It’s none of your business!” She rubbed her ear in disgust, seething—this man was nothing but a walking disaster! “And keep your hands to yourself! That’s not a habit—it’s a disease. Get it treated!” She didn’t wait for the watch repair quote or to argue further. She fled the store, her mind racing: “I’m doomed. What do I do?” She was so distraught that she didn’t notice Keith’s Maybach parked outside her apartment when she got home.
