CHAPTER 9 The Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving, Michael finished grading the last of his senior-level British Lit exams and headed out. In defiance of their normal pattern, he and Sheridan had decided to spend the entire holiday together, day and night. I can't wait, but first, I have an errand to run. His heart began pounding in a way that had nothing to do with the three flights of stairs he'd just descended or the frigid air that tried to steal the breath right from his lungs.
