CHAPTER 12 The next morning at 10:00 on the dot, Michael arrived at Dr. Andrews's office. He had spent a long and terrible night. For most of the evening, he had sat near the phone, wanting more than anything to call Sheridan, just to hear her voice. He knew she must be in agony, waiting for him to call, but he couldn't do it. He had nothing to tell her, and that would be the worst of all. Dr. Andrews was already waiting when Michael arrived. The large, bluff blond man of about forty shook hands and offered a seat on a leather sofa he had squeezed into his office. A large crucifix hung prominently on the office wall, near his diplomas.
