Chapter 3

234 Words
It had been a hectic week at college. Maruva needed a break and had been craving to visit Coffee Day. After their classes on Saturday, Maruva and Raksha stood chatting at the vehicle stand and decided they’d go to the café at 11:30 a.m. the next day. Raksha too had missed their visits to the café. She loved observing the couples romancing at the other tables - the way they talked, made cute faces, quarreled, fought, and broke-up, only to make up minutes later. Then they’d be back to cooing and swooning, making puppy faces at each other. Raksha would take immense joy in witnessing the quirks of a relationship, while making sure she didn’t get caught peeping into other people’s lives. From her observations, she understood that girls usually dominated a relationship. The boy would usually be found surrendering to the whims of the female or consoling her. As a woman, Raksha was happy with this concept in general. She would conjure fantasies of a relationship of her own, imagining her life with a boyfriend that didn’t yet exist. While a few guys had proposed to her, she wasn’t particularly inclined towards a relationship with any of them and was sure they felt the same way too. Though Maruva wasn’t one to be interested in the lives of others, she found the couples’ romantic act sweet at times and didn’t completely despise it.
