Chapter 10 Thomas called Clark mid-morning on Sunday. He’d called a couple of times on Saturday, but Clark hadn’t picked up, which was a little strange. Clark always took his calls and had even asked Thomas to check in with him. “Come on, Clark, pick up.” “Sterling,” Clark said, his voice raspy, strained. “It’s me.” Thomas wondered why he’d answered the phone so formally.
