Thomas had been trying to contact Clark all day, but the man’s phone went instantly to voice mail. He knew Clark had a trial, but he didn’t buy he couldn’t call Thomas back all day. His stomach twisted with a cold ball of despair, his heart hammering harshly in his chest, he punched the cell number in once more on his way to see Matt. It was nearly six o’clock, and Clark couldn’t be in court any longer. “Hello.” Thomas was so surprised to hear Clark answer, he couldn’t get his voice to work for a few seconds.
