"You are insane, Tyana. This is not gonna work." Her friend Circe, grinding gold to dust on the counter of her chamber while she was packing some magical herbs in her backpack. She was planning to leave tonight and her bestfriend was helping her prepare things for her journey.
She had decided to go outside the kingdom and be away for a while to relax. Her daily activity in the palace was lifeless - reading potion books, faction history, wars and medical treatment research on slowpoke, late bloomer witches. She needed something new and since she couldn't cast a spell like a normal adult, she couldn't enjoy doing magic without wasting her precious gold.
"This is all so sudden. How could a royal witch travel incognito without a convoy to assist her? You know I can't accompany you this time, right?"
"I know that Circe and I'll be just fine. We've done this before and I can do this by myself." They had journeyed together in the past in other kingdoms though at that time they were looked after a lot of wizard guards with them. They got the chance to do it when her brothers and cousins were guested for royal tournaments with other sorcerers in the neighboring kingdoms. During that event, they got the chance to see and explore other territories and met a lot of witches as well as a few allies like the fey and shape-shifters.
Their domain in the East didn't allow other factions to live so it was a great opportunity to interact with them. She didn't have any magic nor abilities as a witch or much power to protect herself but she still had a dream - to go to other realm and explore the world with freedom no matter how vulnerable she was. She really wanted to go to the world of mortals like the one she had read in her fiction books about wizards and witches interacting with each other with no hatred nor judgements.
She wanted to meet a siren too and hear her sing. It was a myth that they had such enchanted voice that any man even with magical powers would be possessed by her. She was wondering if there were male sirens too. All of them were just myth for her, but basically, they were not myth to her family. They had seen them and many other types of living beings. That's why she had to do this trip. She wanted not to live in myth anymore and encounter them herself.
"What should I say if Rais finds out?" Circe looked so worried. She knew how Rais treasured her.
" My brother will not be looking for me. He'll just think I'm in my chamber or in the solar for weeks like usual and I'll be back before anyone knows it."
"Where exactly are you going? The wizard of North Kingdom?"
"I'm still not sure Circe. Probably. They have nice technology of magic there." It would be nice to give it a shot in the north.
"But it is dangerous to go there. The path is full of vampires and Lykan surveillance who are hunting for witches." These two factions were there mortal enemies. They had a hard time defeating them. Even the most skillful wizard or witch was no match to vampires' teleportation skills nor Lykans' strength and speed. Just like her mother. She was beaten and killed by a ferocious Lykan.
But she didn't want to worry Circe or she would tattle her to her brother and this trip would just be one of her dreams that would never get to happen.
"They would not hurt me when they find out I'm not of any use to them." They were mostly hunted by different factions due to their unique abilities in sorcery as well as for their beauty. Even though witches were known to be wicked, they're also legendary seductress. Mortals and immortals would die to have one of them but their kinds were very limited only in few kingdoms in secluded property away from humans.
"Stop it! You know your value and the kingdom needs you. I better make a lot of this." She continued crushing her gold while swishing her wand. Circe's ability was to crush things to tiny pieces and she had always been the one making her gold dust. Since she didn't have any flair in sorcery or could cast spell with wands, she had been using her gold dust every time she did magic. Magic which was suited for young kids. Sad to say, she was still in that kindergarten level and couldn't live without gold.
Gold was very precious to witches especially for her. She didn't need to wear one so long as she had gold dust to save the day.
"Tyana, when exactly are you coming back? Your mother's death anniversary will be next month." Right. That's why she needed to get away. Her mom's approaching death anniversary was depressing her. She always kept thinking of her these past few weeks and missed her so much.
"Of course I'll be back before then." She assured her so she wouldn't worry too much. She knew she would be in trouble when her father and brothers found out about her disappearance. So she had already prepared a simple spell that would activate two days after tonight. She had to lie to her. There's no way that attendants in the castle would not find out in a week or two.
