“s**t… that was too close.” The curse left my mouth the second Nyelle walked away from the car.
I leaned back heavily against the seat while exhaling slowly, trying to calm the irritation building inside my chest.
For the first time in a long while, something actually caught me off guard.
And honestly? I didn’t like that feeling at all.
My fingers tightened around the cracked diamond accessory resting inside my palm while my jaw clenched hard.
“I didn’t expect her to notice it that quickly,” I muttered coldly.
From the driver’s seat, Cole glanced toward me carefully through the mirror.
