CHAPTER THREE

1277 Words
TEN YEARS LATER... It's been three years since she had gone into the university, successfully making it to her three hundred level, which was so close to hope because she would be graduating the next year. It was quite a lovely experience for a young lady like her, not even mentioning the fact that she had access to parties, hotels, baths, spa shops and many more, depending on the voluminous piling of her diary. Nothing was more fun than what she was doing. She enjoyed gifts from everyone especially the hot boys whom gave her an attention with a lot of tenacity. If recorded to the few she had met with, she was really hotter than most girls on campus and had a rather excellent taste when it came to beauty. Gradually, she became a center figure in the school's hall of Fame. Her law course had been running very smoothly and was very task full even though she made all effort to eradicate that. She never joked with her studies and never allowed her friends take that away from her. She had discipline and tenacity regarding the promise she had made earlier ago,.that was what took her through, bring justice to the corrupt system of Nigeria. She looked herself in the mirror to know how she would fit in in her sparking red dress, the fit of her breast and waist. Then she removed the band that held her ponytail and allowed it to drop gently and free. Then she applied some make-up on her face ending with the transformation of her lips into a reddish sparkling charm. The truth was that she really wasn't to go for this so called party her friend Esther had asked her to, but she kind of rethought the whole offer after considerable thinking that she really needed to attend, at least to give herself some moment of refreshment. She was a twenty year old who needed some flex out party. "Seriously baby girl, you really need some time to chill out eh. You need some PARTY girl, some time to sip some wine. Come on?" "In as much as you have such convincing voice my friend, I do think that it would not work for me. For now sha." Agnes laughed crossing her legs beside the table. They both were sitted on next to each other inside their school's library. Reading was usually their main goal until Esther enthusiasm got hold of the atmosphere again. "Agnes Anachunam, you are always giving reasons not to go and enjoy yourself. Come on check am, partying is your thing and that what's makes the world better of your personality. Just do this, just this once, please?" "And why should I respect your plea at this time of the season..." "Because you need a boy!" Esther broke in creating a sonic attention in the whole building. Everybody's attention flew from the hardcore of the memorizing picture to that of the two girls sited at the extreme end of the hall. Only at this point was no one ever going to them that the look on those people's faces was that of anger and hatred, an important virtue that always brought a bully out of the crowd. Esther freezed, Agnes frowned, the library attendant raged-OUT!!! Both friends walked out in silence none of them saying a word to each other. Practically as Agnes would say, 'bad things always happen when you've allowed it to have a bad opening and a courtesy of your approval' and that obviously was what Esther had surprisingly done with clear intent or maybe out of carelessness. "Agnes...I'm sorry..." "I guess it really isn't our fault. But at least you could have not drawn attention to us like that. You know that I may never good when it comes to public introduction." She arranged her books again, carrying it with her left hands and hand back on her right. Esther held on more tightly on her school bag still in shame of what had happened. But I'm all, it was nobody's fault, just a combination of partial boredom to their reading and an awesome vigour to have fun. But on the other hand Agnes was really smiling out the idea that the party of a thing might work, what she really needed was an ignition to get the fire working... "Agnes and Esther, what a pleasant surprise to see you, hmm?" The three musketeers appeared from nowhere stopping the two friends from continuing their journey, their leader Catherine walking up close towards Agnes. "I should expect you to give me the respect I deserve, don't I?" Agnes became scared. "I couldn't finish it, it was too much of a burden for me and the exams are coming too soon." she took a deep breath. "I didn't finish your works. I'm sorry." "Did she just say that she was sorry? really?" Catherine laughed, the girls joined her. Then she became serious. "I don't really expect such words from you, Agnes when I'm always sure that you can have more respect on your beauty, character and charisma. But, I...I think I am happy with myself because I don't expect anyone of your Calibre to be afraid of anything, me." "And who said she should be afraid of you?" Esther intervened between Agnes and the Christmas bully. Catherine became surprised. "Well, I'm not surprised that you would try to stand up against me, the only Benin tigress for them campus. Ehe, I am flattered." She then backed away from the duo. "Girls, I think it is time we show these girls that we have faked their pregnancy report and it would go viral by the hour... "WHAT!!" Both girls startled. "Your time has just begun" Catherine grinned getting up her phone with the faked document and an upload icon. She smiled again looking at the weak and frustrated friends. Uploading it would just be the beginning of their agony, wouldn't it? " Don't you try that Catherine or I swear to you, I would release the thirteen videos my guys have on you sleeping with lecturers and staffs. Only one chance that I am giving you. Take it or leave it." A youth with average height, a little shorter than Agnes came out of nowhere in-between the two parties, facing Catherine with a stern face. His remark felt empty, but they were heavy towards Catherine. "You...insolent human being." She bursted after confirming his seriousness. Then she signalled for a leave, spitting out in the process. "you are lucky" was her final words. "Thank you so much...for everything." Esther shakes the young man on both of their behalves because Agnes was trapped in an illusion of seeing not just a hero but someone that glowed in her horizon. Everywhere suddenly began to fade in her memory except that of the young man greeting Esther. He was indeed a fair prince that fitted her dark petals. his eyebrows were an artistic touch, his face was as smooth as plane and his packs, oh he was muscular and well built. A gentleman in casual wear... "Agnes, he said he is also going to the party. He asks to take you out ooo" Agnes immediately snaps out. "Of course. Yes, yes I'll come." She blushed still surprised that he was holding her hand with such warmth. When did he even come near her? "My name is Arinze." The man introduced. "And mine...is Agnes and i'd love to go out with you "... She smiled at herself at the mirror after remembering that it was the reason she was going to the party. To meet her new lover boy.
