Chapter Nine Keir hurried down the flight of stairs that led from the roof. As soon as he was on the seventy-second floor, he sprinted down the hall and let himself back into Regal’s apartment. He shut the door behind him and locked it, leaning against the heavy wood as he caught his breath. Panting and heart racing, Keir headed back to Regal’s bedroom. He knocked quickly to be polite, but didn’t bother waiting to be invited. However, when he opened the bedroom door, he discovered that the demon was missing. He heard water running in the bathroom and headed straight for the door, knocking on it impatiently. “Regal, are you in there?” “Of course I’m in here, who else could it possibly be?” he heard Regal bark over the spray of water. “Sorry, but I need to talk to you about something.”
