Birthday Party.

Diane's POV.

I am super stoked it's finally my birthday!!! I am finally turning 27!!!

I wake up early careful not to wake Haddon up and start dancing my way down stairs.

Seeing as it's a weekend so there's no work.

I move through the living room to the music console doing the electric slide.

I love dancing by the way I have been a dancer and singer since I was 6 years old.

I am a bit rusty because of adulting and stuff but I do dance once in a while.

I play it's my birthday by Ann-Marie so loudly in the living room and start moving to the beat as I head to prepare breakfast for Haddon.

How this man can sleep through almost anything still baffles me.

One time he slept through a house party my brothers had thrown downstairs in my absence.

Granted he had just come back from a business trip and was exhausted but the guy loves his sleep.

So when I feel his strong arms wrap around my waist I was kinda startled.

I jumped and he just laughed at me and nuzzles his head into my neck and kisses me there.

It got me so turned on I had to push him back or I'd end up burning the scrambled eggs I was making.

He comes around to my side.

He grabs the spoon from my hand and takes me to the stool and sits me down at the kitchen counter.

What are you doing babe? I protest.

He turns and gives me a stern look and says..babe it's your birthday I can't let you cook or do anything else for that matter.

Besides I love to spoiling you and you love being spoilt..

And you know you are my favorite girl and today is your day it's only right that I make you breakfast.

Plus I have missed you so much and you take care of yourself when I am not around.

It's only right I let you rest and I take charge.

See this is exactly why I adore this human of mine.

He can see the stars shining in my eyes because he walks over to me and places a sweet little kiss on my lips.

When he wants to pull away I grab him by his shirt and refuse to let go of him and I part my lips for him.

The kiss moves from soft and innocent to sexy and heated in a milli second.

After we let go of each other we are both panting for air.

He then kissed my forehead and goes back to cooking.

Just as he goes back birthday s*x starts playing in the living room.

He turns and smirks at me and starts dancing and singing along.

He then winks at me and goes back to cooking.

His reaction is exactly what I expected from him.

This has always been one of his favorite songs since I lost my virginity to him on my 19th birthday.

So he always plays it during my birthday.

However today I beat him to it because I played it before he knew I had it in the playlist.

I know you are wondering about how Haddon and I became a couple.

Well I was the goody goody type in highschool and he was the star soccer player in our school.

In our country soccer is a huge deal also we call it football not soccer .

So he was in so popular in school and with the ladies and of course I was invisible.

Though he was my brothers' best friend we really never talked.

Also according to guy code you can't hit on your friends sisters.

So he avoided me most times.

He was pretty disciplined though and he wasn't such a bad boy unlike my brothers who loved sleeping around.

One day though he was roped into playing beer pong.

He got so drunk and accidentally walked into my room during a party...

I am not the partying type so I normally lockef myself in my room when my brothers threw parties when my parents weren't around.

Trust me teenagers are the same everywhere in the world..you know that saying that there's nothing new under the sun it is pretty much spot on.

So I was in my room reading my book when he walked in so tipsy he just collapsed on to my bed.

Of course I was shocked... I had been crushing on him ever since I could remember but he always avoided me and was totally out of my league back then.

I was really shocked, I tried waking him but he didn't barge.

I had a couch in my room so I had no choice but to sleep there.

When morning came I was still asleep when I felt him stir I am a very light sleeper so I got up.

He had woken up and sat he was holding his head in his hands.

I walked up to him and asked him how he was.

When I touched him he flinched frowning I pulled my hand away.

That's when he looked up and saw it was me.

The frown got deeper... I walked back some few steps and folded my arms on my chest.

He then sighed and spoke and said ... I guess this was inevitable.

I looked at him confused... As if sensing my confusion he explained further saying I knew one day my subconscious would eventually lead me to where you are.

I got even more confused now... He walked up to me and touched my forehead rubbing it as if removing something.

That's when I realized I was scowling. I was momentarily stunned of course but when I got out of my shock I moved back.

He smiled at me then said something I never expected to hear from him.

Diane one day I'll make you my wife and your gonna have my kids and he just walked out leaving me gaping at him.

Obviously Tay was on the party she is the wild to my calm.

She came running to my room. She was the only person apart from my mom who knew I had a crush on Haddon.

She sat down looking at me expectantly. ..What Tay?

She laughed and says spill the tea woman I just saw Haddon leaving your room.

I frown looking at her and asked... So?

So? She exclaimed I want to know what happened...

I just shook my head laughing... Nothing he just came to my room last night drunk and passed out on my bed.

I even slept on my couch....

Why would you do that Diane this was the one opportunity you had of doing something crazy with him while he's drunk.

I looked at her like she just grew two heads.

Seriously Tay would you do that with Taylor if you got the opportunity?

She looks at me with a sad look in her eyes and says... We we both know that's never gonna happen he's always surrounded by those brainless bimbos he hangs out with.

I walk over to her and hug her and she leans into my touch...

She then brightens up and then looks and me and says when he left he was smiling like he won the lottery....

He did? Yep...

OK well he said something pretty weird I confessed.

Tay being the gossip she is turns and looks at me expectantly.

He said that his subconscious must have led him to my room and that one day he is going to make me his wife and I'll have his kids.

Tay shrieks like a banshee...i had to cover my ears to save my eardrums.

She then gets up and starts dancing.. . I just laugh.

When she's done with her drama I look at her and smile.

She pulls me up and says well it's pretty

obvious he likes you more than he let's on because no guy can say such things without meaning it.

The party was an end of year party for the juniors so they still has time before college and Haddon went back to his normal behavior of avoiding me.

After some time I started believing he said those words coz he was still drunk...

It wasn't until I turned 15 when he came with my brothers to my birthday that I was sure he meant every word.

On my 15th birthday in front of my entire family Haddon walked up to me as he brought me my present and practically announced to my entire family and his coz they were pretty close even before that he has always been in love with me and wants me to be his girlfriend.

This is a 17 year old making such an announcement before both our families.

I was so shocked I passed out.

When I came to I found Haddon my parents and brothers plus Haddon's parents looking at me worriedly.

Tay was holding my hand crying her eyes out.

I looked around confused then remembered why I had passed out.

I look at Haddon who looks at me with a secret smile on his face.

After my family was done fussing over me they left me alone with Haddon who sat next to me and asked if I am fine enough to answer his question.

I smile at him looking worried... Again this guy can read my mind and says your parents and brothers already know my intentions towards you Diane it's just you who was remaining.

I look at him and smile I mean this is all I've ever wanted so why wouldn't I agree to it.

So I said yes and here we are many years down the line celebrating my 27th birthday still with the same guy.

Still in love with him like crazy...

Shania Twine knew what she was talking about when she sang the song still the one.

I can totally relate... After Haddon was done with breakfast I ate and went to prepare myself and the things I need before my birthday.

Haddon handled most of the birthday plans coz he said I was gonna be pampered today.

He took me to the spa I got my hair and nails done and came back in the evening.

The party was to start at 6 so I went to my room.

Haddon wasn't home which was odd... I got closer to our bed and saw he had left me a gorgeous plum floor length gown.

it was gorgeous... it was strapless with lace on either side of it and a long slit on my left side.

This man really knows how to spoil me.

There was also beautiful Louboutin heeled sandals white with plum straps.

And to top it all off there were diamond earrings and a necklace that were absolutely stunning.

I went took a shower and changed into my outfit when I got back down stairs.

I found Haddon busy giving instructions to the catering stuff looking so hot in a white and plum tuxedo.

it was all white with plum lapels and pocket square and a plum bow tie.

I stopped on my tracks...

Sensing my presence since he turned and on seeing me he smiled and walked up to where I was.

He gave me a soft kiss on my lips and helped me down the stairs.

I made it to the ground floor and he pulled me into his arms and smiled down at me.

He then led me to the backyard where to my utter shock everyone was already here.

They all yelled surprise and I couldn't hold back my tears.

I turn back to Haddon who smiles at me so sweetly wiping away my tears.

My family came first hugging me and handing me their presents.

My mom was already crying tears of joy while dad held her hand.

He hugs me and gives me a peck on my forehead and then hands me my present.

Tay came next and hugged the lights out of me.

She then handed me my present...

My brothers Taylor and Tyler followed next. I haven't seen them for so long since we live in different counties.

They hugged me and gave me their presents.

Finally it was Jake's turn and he walked up to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek and handed me my present.

I sensed Haddon stiffen behind me but didn't read much into it.

After everyone was done we started the party officially Haddon welcomed people to help themselves to the food.

As soon as the guests went into the house.

Haddon pulled me aside and asked me who Jake was...

I told him about what I know about him. He seemed unconvinced but dropped the subject all together.

Tay came to where I was as Haddon went to hang out with his best friends since he hasn't see them for months.

She pulls me aside and starts questioning me.

Why did you invite him? She points at Jake who was busy having a conversation with my mom of all people and laughing.

I turn and raise an eyebrow at her... She then continues.

I saw how Haddon looked at him he doesn't like him.

Well Haddon doesn't know him so it's not really weird he doesn't like him also we all know he's very choosy with who he likes .

So no surprise there... She then turns her focus to my big brother Taylor.

She clearly is pissed because as usual he came with a plus one and she is his type ....

Tall skinny light skin with long hair most probably a human hair wig because no African girl from this country has that kind of hair.

I squeeze her shoulder in sympathy as she looks at them with a super sad expression.

Then my mom calls her to where she was.

My mother adores Tay she says that she would have adopted her if she was younger.

Tay's had a really rough childhood but she is such a wonderful human you'll never know unless you are told her story.

She is too well adjusted if you ask me. If I had gone through all she went through I would probably be mentally disturbed for life.

But that's a story for another day.

Taylor walks up to me and then turns to watch mom and Tay talk I see something like desire and longing pass through his eyes as he watches them.

That's when he notices I have been watching him.

He pretends he was looking at someone else but I smirk at him and he just flips me off.

Dad sees him and calls him over and scolds him.

I just laugh at him and go in search of Haddon who by the way just disappeared on me.

I find him in the study on his phone his face looking contorted in worry.

I walk up to him and what I hear makes me get worried.

I am booking the next flight to Nigeria right now..

What? Nigeria why is he leaving?

He looks up at me and holds a finger to silence me before he finishes.

When he's off the call he looks at me with a sad look and tells me he has to go to Nigeria right now.

What? But why it's my birthday you can't just leave in the middle of the party much less.

Babe the plant in Nigeria caught fire I have to go and find out what happened there.

So I have to catch a flight right now.

Can't it wait for another hour till the party is over? I tried convincing him.

I look at my watch and it's around 10:30pm the party ends at 11.

But you can't go just yet can't it wait?

He looks at me like I just slapped him ... He practically shouts at me ...

I have to leave now I can't sit here celebrating with you when then I am loosing billions.

I am taken a back... Haddon never shouts and I mean never.

He has never shouted at me ever no matter how bad things are.

So the fact that he just did shocked me and hurt me.

I turned on my heels and left the study headed down stairs.

I then notice that people have finished eating it was cake cutting time.

I get my emotions in check and head over to them as they sing me happy birthday and we cut the cake.

My mom asks me where Haddon is I tell her he is on his way down.

I have to put on a brave face because of my guests but inside I am seething.

The cake is cut people enjoy it and dance and once it's time to leave they leave after congratulating me again.

This whole time Haddon doesn't show...

As I take my parents to the parking space so that they can leave I notice his vehicle is not on the drive way.

After my parents leave I head to the study to check if he is there I don't find him.

I check the kitchen the guest room... The back yard I can't find him anywhere.

When I head to the bedroom and find his suit case is missing and the walk in closet doors are open.

I know he is gone that I am sure... And he just left without telling me anything.

I have never been this angry not even a note or calling me aside to say he's leaving he just up and left.

I am so hurt and angry I go to my room after seeing the caterers off I remove my shoes and get into bed just the way I am.

I end up crying myself to sleep.

I guess this is officially the worst birthday I have ever had.

My husband left me all alone on my birthday.

Never did I expect Haddon to do something like that.

Not even in my wildest dreams especially on my birthday.

I drifted off into a nightmare. I dreamt that Haddon left me and never came back.

Little did I know this was a premonition of events to come.
