7 “Hurry up, Deb. You won’t believe what I found!” Lukas ran through the field, his nine-year-old legs pumping fiercely in his excitement. He gazed up at the beautiful blue sky; his father told him once that it looked just as the sky above Above, but Lukas always knew theirs was better, brighter, more beautiful. “You’re going to get us in trouble,” Deborah called back, lifting her skirts to keep after her cousin. “My father told us not to wander off.” “He won’t even know we were gone,” Lukas said, turning to grin at her when they crested a small rise. “Not if we hurry.” He pointed down the other side of the hill where the grass ran all the way up to the very edge of the vast, cavernous rock wall stretching endlessly in both directions. Deborah frowned, but she took off after him anyway
