9 Lukas could not fully comprehend the graciousness of his new host, leaving him skeptical and a little wary of the man. His three guides had led him into Cephas’s home—a small apartment half underground with low ceilings and gray, stuccoed walls riddled with cracks. The inside of the man’s dwelling boasted very little of the flashing, scrolling holographic surfaces found in the city streets and Lukas found his mind finally able to settle into a semblance of peace.
