Farr’s POV
I stared at the envelope in my hands.
A promotion. Double the salary. A title that would put me in rooms I never imagined I could reach.
But it came with a condition.
Silence.
No official acknowledgment of the relationship with Nyl. No claims. No future. Just power in exchange for pretending I never felt anything more than gratitude.
Ms. Villafuerte’s words echoed:
“Think of this as a way forward, Farr. Clean. Quiet. Professional.”
It was everything I thought I wanted when I was just a quiet assistant with dreams.
So why did it feel like a chain?
Nyl’s POV
I met with the board that morning.
They gave me two options:
Step down quietly... or make a public statement denying my relationship with Farr.
And they sweetened it.
They’d clear my name. Kill the scandal. Let me keep the company if I walked away.
And let Aureline win.
I looked at the papers. The headlines they had drafted. The “official statement.” It was practically signed already.
“She’s not worth it,” one of the older executives said, almost kindly. “You can’t throw everything away for a girl who just got here.”
But she was worth it.
Every risk. Every scandal. Every damn thing.
Farr’s POV – Later That Night
Nyl showed up at my door.
He didn’t knock. Just stood there like the storm had followed him.
“I turned it down,” he said.
“The company?”
“The statement. The deal. The silence. I’d rather lose everything than lose us.”
Tears slipped from my eyes before I could stop them.
“Then let’s lose everything together,” I whispered.
He kissed me. Deeply. Desperately. Like it was the only truth that mattered.
And maybe it was.
Aureline’s POV
So. He chose her.
Sweet.
Let’s see how long they last… without the empire beneath their feet.
To be continued...
