Farr’s POV
The HR conference room was colder than I remembered.
Three people sat across from me Ms. Villafuerte from HR, one legal officer, and someone from PR. No smiles. Just stares. And a copy of the leaked photos sitting open on the table.
“We are currently investigating this leak,” Ms. Villafuerte said in a practiced tone. “But as it stands, your conduct has raised concern, Ms. Mondragon.”
Concern. That was their polite way of saying scandal.
I wanted to disappear.
“I never meant for this to become public,” I said quietly. “None of this was meant to happen in the office.”
“Unfortunately,” the legal officer interjected, “it did. And because of your position and Mr. Davis’s, the optics are… challenging.”
I could barely breathe.
Then the door burst open.
Nyl walked in like a storm in a suit.
“This meeting is over,” he said sharply.
Ms. Villafuerte stood. “Mr. Davis, with all due respect”
“I said it’s over. You want someone to blame? Blame me. She’s not the one who crossed any line. I am.”
I stared at him, stunned.
He walked to my side, slid his hand into mine.
“If she leaves, I leave,” he added.
A silence thicker than concrete followed.
Nyl’s POV
I didn’t care about protocol. Or shareholders. Or scandal. All I saw was the woman they were trying to corner like she was some mistake.
But she wasn’t.
She was the only thing in this company that made sense.
Farr’s POV – Later That Night
We sat on the rooftop of his building. The city pulsed below, uncaring. But up here, it was quiet.
“I should’ve handled it better,” I said, voice trembling.
He pulled me closer. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“But I let myself believe this was safe. That what we had could stay in the shadows.”
Nyl tilted my chin up. “It doesn’t have to stay hidden anymore.”
The words hit deeper than any kiss.
He wasn’t just protecting me now.
He was claiming me.
Aureline’s POV
The HR report hit the media within an hour of being “resolved.”
Nyl had tried to protect her.
How noble.
But nobility has a cost.
And I was going to make sure they both paid.
