Nova’s scream echoed in my head as I fought against the darkness. I pushed and pushed at it, trying to open my eyes or move my limbs. But I felt heavy, so heavy that I felt like I was sinking into the ground. My shoulder was on fire though, I could feel that. Slowly the screams began to float away, leaving the silence ringing in my ears. Then there I could hear voices, whispering voices and I couldn’t quite understand what they were saying.
A warm hand touched my arm then the burning in my shoulder intensified as it was poked at. A groan escaped me, and the whispering voices grew louder and clearer. I could hear a soft woman speaking and a deep male voice respond, but I still couldn’t understand their words. I tried to open my eyes, but they felt like they were glued shut
