“Jack?” I said surprised to see him coming through the door. “What’s wrong?”
Immediately he broke down into tears and sat down on the couch. I was startled and confused. He had just left for work a couple hours ago. He wrapped his arms around me and held me tightly to him.
“Jack, please, you need to tell me what’s happening?” I said.
“Rick was shot and killed last night,” he mumbled.
“Oh my God!” I cried out and hugged him tightly. “What happened?”
“They said it was the same guy,” he said. “They think he was trying to get one of us since everyone knows shifters work there. He may not have even known that Rick was a human and just assumed.”
