Nova and I had spent the day visiting friends and announcing the pregnancy. Everyone was so excited for us. Jamie said she’d call her sister who was in real estate like James said. We were meeting with her tomorrow. When we got back, Nova was ready to crash. She took a long nap while I looked up baby stuff online. She woke up and insisted we spend time sitting on the couch eating ice cream.
About halfway through some drama show, I got up to replenish our snack and refill Nova’s water. While I stood waiting for the popcorn to pop, I looked up at the window to see a woman walking by our apartment. She looked nervous, like she was pacing. I watched curiously as she slowly approached our door and knocked hesitantly.
“Is that the door?” Nova called out.
