I woke up to Jack twitching and jerking in his sleep. He growled; fur sprouting out from his skin. He’s been having nightmares more lately. I quickly rubbed my hand over his arm and back; rubbing and massaging his muscles until the fur began to descend while whispering to him that it’s alright and I was safe. His growl turned into a purr before he settled back into a deep sleep. He snored softly into the pillow.
As quietly as possible, I shifted my body out of the bed; careful not to wake up Jack and quietly padded off to the bathroom. I checked the time on the microwave in the kitchen as I walked past and saw that it was a little after 5. Closing the door, I turned on the bathroom light and sat on the toilet to think.
