From the outside, my house doesn't look very large. It really isn't on the inside either, but it's home. The outside is covered in red brick on the top half and the bottom is bedford stone all the way around. The flower beds aren't very well kept up, mainly because I don't have the time or energy, not because I don't want to. There's also a very large magnolia tree out front that's been here long before I even purchased the house. There is an attached garage, but off to the right there is also a pole barn that has two very large garage style doors. Large enough to fit a camper in each bay. Then there are three other smaller car sized doors to the left of those, followed by a set of french doors just around the corner. The pole barn is a dark gray with white trim and the driveway extends from the front of the house to the side yard in front to the garage doors on the barn, all paved with black top. There aren't very many people nearby, the closest houses have been for sale for a long time. With the decline of jobs nearby, most people have moved closer to larger cities for work. Through the front door of my house you walk into the living room which has a fireplace, TV, gaming systems and my computer. The walls are a dark gray with the trim being a dark oak and the floor hard wood of the same color. The ceiling is white so that it's not too dark though and I have brown leather furniture throughout. After the living room there is a hallway to the left but straight through is the dining room and a large kitchen with an island. Pots and pans hang from the ceiling above the island. The cabinets are a dark oak again along with the trim, but the walls and ceiling are a robin's egg blue. There are french doors that lead off of the dining room to a glassed in porch area that serves as a second dining room on nice days. The door to the attached garage leads off from the kitchen and a second door leads to a basement.
I make my way into the kitchen to the coffee maker in the corner next to the oven. "How do you like your coffee?" I looked at Ian, who seemed to be busy looking at my knick knacks that lined the shelves above the kitchen bar. As he took a seat on one of the bar stools he finally looked back to me as if just now registering that I spoke. "Oh, Um, black is fine." I got busy with making the coffee while the kids sat at the dining room table all being a bit too quiet. "Crystal? Iggy? Would you two like some?" I looked at them with an eyebrow raised. Both of them were eyeing Ian and then me, as if they were trying to figure out if they were dreaming or if I had in fact brought a man home. "You're going to want some because what we are about to discuss is….interesting to say the least." Crystal snapped her focus back to me.
"Is everything ok?"
"Yea, it's just gonna be a long day." I passed Ian a mug of coffee as soon as it was done brewing and then got some for myself. I sat down in the chair next to Ian at the bar while the kids got their own mugs and Crystal started another pot to brew. "Hey where are the animals?" I have two dogs and three cats and normally they are all over me when I walk in the door.
"Well the cats are hiding as per usual, but I'm not sure about the dogs," Crystal was the first to answer me. I let out a low whistle hoping the dogs would at least come out. Sure enough, here came Angel my Beagle mix. Bounding down the hallway followed close behind by Fang, my Mastidor ( A mix between a mastiff and a labrador). Angel leapt into my arms and started giving me kisses while Fang rested his head on my lap and proceeded to drool all over my pants. I laughed heartily at this because Angel was trying to hug me and block pets for Fang all while Fang was now trying to climb into my lap as well. I finally hear a very loud meow coming from my 17 year old cat Munchie ( short for munchkin) as he saunters up to the foot of my bar stool. "Alright guys chill, Crystal would you put the dogs out back so we can all talk?" Crystal got up and corralled the dogs outside as I picked up Munchie and sat him in my lap. Now he was content and just layed there purring loudly as I stroked the fur between his ears. I felt eyes on me again and noticed Ian was looking at me rather peculiarly. "What?"
"It's nothing really hermosa, it just seems you have a little mix matched pack of your own." I smiled at the thought, I guess I never really thought of it that way. Also considering I have shifter genes they have come through in peculiar ways. I tend to take in all the strays.
"Pack? Why did he just call us a pack mom?" Crystal snapped me out of my trance, "Oh right, Um so a lot happened last night…."
(A few hours after many questions and one freak out moment later)
I placed the cloth satchel on the counter after everyone went quiet. "So you guys are a couple? Just like that?" Crystal asked dazed, looking from me to Ian.
" Well si…."
"Not exactly…" I cut Ian off and gave him a pointed look. "This is something we will have to talk about a bit later. Right now I want to get to the directions and figure out this spell." Ian looked a bit upset but didn't argue as I opened the satchel and took out a very thick envelope. There were two large pieces of folded parchment inside that and several odds and ends in the bag itself. I set the bag aside and unfolded the directions to get started. The first page seemed more of a letter rather than directions.
Dear Mrs. Molina,
Yes I know who you are, we have been watching you for quite some time. The reason for that varies, but I must extend our deepest condolences on your loss. The loss of a lover is a grave thing but the loss of a child is almost unbearable. That being said, we understand you do not wish to have another mate or bear children and if you are to break this spell you may not have a choice in the matter. The mate bond is a tricky thing and you can already feel it's pull. Be warned this cannot be undone and proceed with caution.
Regards,
Ghàidhlig
To say I was in shock was an understatement. How could Ghàidhlig know all of that? Why are they watching me? I'll have to ask the next time I see them or at least ask Molly. "Mom? Are you ok?" I looked up at Crystal. I didn't realize my eyes had teared up at some point. I quickly wiped the tears away and stood up. "You know what, I think I'm gonna take a shower and get some sleep before I delve into this any further. I'm assuming you and your friends will be heading off?"
"Not without you hermosa"
"What do you mean? I'm not going anywhere. I have to work tomorrow night and I have kids here."
"Bella, I possess a great deal of patience but it is wearing thin. You are my mate and the Luna of my pack. You will come with me when the time comes."
"Now just hold on one frigging minute pendejo. No one commands me to do a damn thing and sure as hell not someone who just waltzed into my life. Telling me they are my 'mate', as if that means anything to me and that I'm their packs Luna? I don't have to do any of that if I don't want to so stick that in your pipe and smoke it cabron."
At this point both our voices are raised and we are glaring at one another. Neither of us backing down. Ian's eyes were turning almost black and he was starting to shake. Rio rushed into the room and said something to Ian, I'm guessing so that he would go outside so he could calm down. Now im in the middle of the kitchen shaking with rage. How dare he! The nerve of some men. Muttering curses in Spanish, I storm over to the refrigerator and fill a glass of wine. Then go off to my bedrooms attached bathroom to shower. With an attitude like that, I'm not sure I want to break the spell if it's gonna be harder to resist him. Nah, I'm a strong willed, independent woman. Maybe I can reject him before I break the spell and then it won't be so bad. That was what he said rightmost? Something about rejecting. Lost in my shower thoughts and sipping my wine. I got out of the shower cleaned from yesterday's adventures. I wrapped myself in a towel to go back into my bedroom to get some clothes. I wasn't paying attention and when I walked out I walked straight into Ian and dropped my wine glass as I clutched the towel around me. He was able to catch me and we stood there for a second before I realized, he's in MY room! "What the actual f**k dude?! Why are you in here? Get OUT!" I pushed him to the door. Which by contrast my tiny build to his gigantic frame I'm sure was amusing to any onlookers there may be. "Hermosa! Wait please. I'm sorry!"
"I don't care! I'm naked and you are in my room without permission!" I finally get him shoved out the door and lock it behind him. *Knock, knock, knock* "Hermosa please can we talk? I didn't mean to intrude. I didn't realize you were showering and when I went to leave I noticed the pictures and I was looking at them when you came out. I am very sorry. Can I explain please?"
I'm practically seething at this point but I stay quiet waiting for him to speak. "Hermosa, *sigh* we, I mean, my wolf and I, have been waiting a long time for our mate ever since we were rejected. Our kind doesn't generally get a second chance at a mate. So I am sorry if we got a bit possessive. I know you are new to this and I don't understand everything from your past as to why you may not want to be with me, but please give me a chance."
I stood there not sure what to do. I could almost feel his sadness through the door and I hated it. "Well I need to rest either way and I'm sure you have something you need to tend to being an alpha and all. Shouldn't you be going?"
"Actually, hermosa, if it's ok with you. I can do my work remotely from my laptop for a bit, until you decide. I can sleep on the couch perhaps?"
I'm really not to sure how I feel about this, but I do need answers about skinwalkers. I cracked the door just a bit so I can look at him. His eyes sparkled with hope. My heart melted a bit with that. Damn it,"Alright, but you'll need clothes and I don't know where your brother and Rio or the MIB are gonna sleep."
He actually jumped up excitedly and clapped his hands. "Not to worry hermosa. They are going to go ahead in my place. As far as clothes I can have some over nighted." With that he ran off. I'm pretty sure he was skipping. I chuckled and closed the door to get dressed. I made sure I locked it this time and finally laid down for some much needed rest.
