Under Where?!

As we touched the ground, everything shifted. I looked back to the stairs only to find a stone wall. Looking back ahead of us, there was a long corridor with torches every so often to light the way. I turned to Molly to ask what in the hell was going on, only to find her laying my friends down one by one as if they had fallen asleep suddenly. "What have you done!?" rushing to Ari's side trying to wake her to no avail. "Now Sam, I need you to relax..." "Molly, that is the last thing you say to someone. What the hell is going on? Where are we? And why do you look different?" I noticed her features were much more angular, and I swear she has pointed ears now. Is her skin glistening? Or is that glitter? I think I must have been hit in the head in that bar fight. "As I said before, appearances can be deceiving." Just then 4 people came from the shadows, well I think people they look just like Molly. She starts talking to them rapidly in another language I'm not familiar with. "What is going on!!!" At this point I'm exasperated and I want answers. I look pleadingly at Molly, "Please explain! Are my friends alright?" "Yes of course! I'd never hurt them. I merely put a sleeping charm on them so they forget this whole ordeal and my associates here are going to make sure to get them home. They aren't safe down here being that they are humans." I think my mind just literally imploded. "What do you mean humans? Aren't we all? And at that why am I not being sent home?" "I promise to explain as much as I can but in short I know you aren't human. What exactly you are I am not certain, and I'm pretty sure you're smart enough to realize we aren't either." Molly then pointed to herself and her cohorts. "You just aren't willing to accept it yet. It's fine, it will come in due time. Right now we need to get a move on." I warily eye Molly, not sure whether to believe her or not just yet. Going back the way I came isn't an option so I guess I'll have to trust she has my best interest at heart. Her friends gathered up the girls and then vanished in a blink of an eye. "Whoa..." Molly turns to me, "Oh honey, you haven't seen anything yet." With that we make our way to the brighter end of the tunnel. "So where are we Mols?" "Isn't it obvious dear? We're under the surface of the earth. Some call it the underdark, but as you can see it's not very dark. I prefer calling it Pomme de Terre, or just Tera for short. You know the fruit of the earth? It's actually french for potatoe which I think being that a potato is a root gives a bit of a double meaning don't you agree?" At this point my head is spinning so I just smile and nod at Molly's ramblings. After walking in silence for quite some time, I finally turned to Molly, "So can you elaborate now? What's going on please?" "Oh yes of course dear sorry, got lost in my own head." She clears her throat as we trudge along and I wait on baited breath to hear what she has to say. "So you know mythical creatures and magic and heard fairy tales and the like I'm sure?" She looks at me as I nod my head. "Ofcourse, but if you're about to tell me that's all true and I've been living amongst you all, all my life. Quite frankly I think that's ludicrous. " "Well where did you think all those stories came from? Humans aren't that creative to make up a dragon. I mean come on, stories are a reflection of the truth. It is a matter of how foggy the glass is as to how much is seen accurately I will admit that." I stop in my tracks. "Now wait a minute if that's true and you said I'm not human, but I've lived as a human my whole life, how is that possible? I've never even seen a mythical creature." She interrupts ," Until now." Gesturing at herself. "Ok....except you but I still don't know what you are and I'm not sure I can process that yet. Were the others, in the bar, not human either?" "No, I usually don't let humans in my establishments. Not because I don't want to, but simply put it's just not safe with all the varying types of supernaturals. Some are very, what I would call species preferenced. They don't like intermingling. Plus my businesses are usually places to let one's hair down, so to speak." "Well, then why did you let us in?" "Honestly most of us were curious about you. What you may be and we figured once you got comfortable enough you'd let your hair down." Molly put air quotes around that bit and I chuckled. "OK but my friends?" "Like I said, I don't have a problem and most of the patrons at the bar you are familiar with didn't mind. Those asshat half giants were out of towners. I usually require a few days prep for something like that, but one they didn't call ahead the 3 days I needed and 2 they lied about being half giants. They tend to have a short temper and wreak havoc wherever they go. Most places won't let them stay at all or at least not long." "Half Giants!?" I gawked at her in disbelief. I knew they were big guys, but my Goddess that's crazy. As she nodded, and I slowly started accepting the reality of the situation I finally had to ask, " OK so what mythical creature are you?" "You won't hazard a guess? I mean it's quite obvious isn't it?" "One I'm new to this and 2 I don't want to insult you if I get it wrong." "You're no fun...I'm a fairy or fae folk if you prefer." I nodded my head, deep in thought trying to absorb all this new information that was coming to me so fast. It could just about make you light headed from all the excitement. Then I had a thought. "So you don't know what kind of mythical being I am?" "Nope, not a clue. " " Then how do you even know that I am? You could be mistaken." " Though I know you're hoping I'll agree with you , the answer is simple really. All beings give off a kind of aura. Certain species give off specific colors and most mythical beings can see them." I nodded waiting for her to continue. "Yours however is...complicated." "Well un-complicate it please." "I don't know if I can, best I can do is you have a mix of colors and I've never seen that before. Hence the curiosity, I'm quite a bit older than I look." "I don't even want to know right now, maybe we will revisit that later. I just have too much to process right now." "If it makes you feel better I may know someone that can help us figure it out." "Alright, well what are we waiting for? Lead the way please." With that I realized we had come to the end of the tunnel, but what I thought would be an opening to a cave was actually a wall of shimmering light. It was almost a milky substance swirling in mid air covering the entirety of what I assume was the opening. It was at least 20 ft in diameter, from ceiling to floor and wall to wall and emitting a beautiful golden glow. I look at Molly with an eyebrow raised questioning if this is safe. "Go on, it's a portal. Kind of a last precaution if any humans made it down here." "What would happen to a human if they tried to enter?" "Nothing harmful, just make them forget why they are here and compel them to go back the other way. I made it myself." Molly beamed at her handy work before walking through the portal, which seemed to ripple like water as she did. "I don't know about all this." I mumble to myself as I inspect the portal and stretch out my hand to touch it when a hand thrusts through and grabs my hand. I yelp and the next thing I know I've been yanked through to the other side.
