Chapter 2: Funny Stories

1267 Words
After school, Michelle and her friends all got on the bus to the White Willow shopping centre. They sat upstairs in the back row where the engine heated the seats, as well as the sun glazing its light through the windows. They shouted at each other which irritated the people at the front who can hear their conversation. "So what are we going to eat?" Grace asked. "Meh, might just get some chips and a burger," Michelle said as she leaned onto Joshua's shoulder. "I got that the other day from my local chicken and chip shop, but best believe that *bossman tried to rob me of my money," Priscilla said. "Really?" Grace's lips curved into a cheeky smirk. "Yeah, he really tried to charge me two pounds when I know that thing is £1.30," she kissed her teeth at the memory. "Can't relate, my local bossman *rates me still," Michelle giggled proudly as she tapped on her phone. "Imagine as soon as he sees me, he starts cooking up the food cause he already knows what I want!" "Lucky," Grace frowned. Michelle stuck her tongue out at her and continued to put more pressure onto Joshua's shoulder. "Michelle," He finally said as glanced down at her, but only saw her braids and lashes. "Yeah?" "I think you need to stop going Morley's cause your head is getting too fat," he jerked her head off him. "Ouch," she screamed, feigning pain and caused people to turn their head back in annoyance. "What was that for?!" "Your head was starting to hurt my shoulder," he replied without looking at her. She huffed and stubbornly crossed her arms before sitting properly in her seat. When they got off the bus, they had their blazers around their waist as they strode towards the shopping centre. The girls had their arms linked and caused quite a problem through the crowd but they eventually made it to the entrance. They sat at a table that was near the escalators at the restaurant Cherry Blossom. They ordered some ice cream gelato as a treat and proceeded to wait for it to come. Michelle leaned over the glass that prevented them from falling. There was a transparent rooftop on top that allowed the sun's light to glaze down like a halo. There were shops all around, and people walking in and out of them. However, what caught her attention was some students dressed in navy blazers and striped ties. "Ayo! I can see some neeks from Putney!" she exclaimed. "Where?" Grace leaned over and scanned the ground floor. She eventually caught sight of them and started to shout. "Yo pussios!" They looked up at confusion and Grace started shouting more insults at them. "Go suck your mothers!" She stuck her middle finger high up and stuck her tongue out. The students from Putney Way shouted something back but they couldn't hear and they suddenly ran out of sight. Michelle and Grace laughed and soon they got their ice creams. The school Putney Way was fairly close to theirs so they had a natural rivalry with them which was nothing too serious, other than occasional arguments. While they were peacefully eating, a random boy strolled over with confidence written on his face. "Yo darlin," he said to Priscilla, with charm laced in his childish voice. Priscilla looked over at him with an eye roll. "What do you want?" "Saw you over there and thought you were looking kinda *peng still babes," He said, l*****g his dry thin lips. "Do I look like your girl for you to be calling me babes?" Priscilla said who looked like she had just been insulted. "Nah but if you want, I can change that," He said, trying way too hard to be smooth. "Are you mad? Why would I go out with some dirty boy like you fam? *Allow it." She kissed her teeth at him. The boy was about to say something when Grace spoke up. "Boy, she don't want you, why you still standing here?" The boy started to get frustrated but gave up and left them in peace. They huffed out a sigh of relief and continued eating their ice cream. "When was the last time you guys got moved to?" Priscilla asked. "Oh wait," Michelle covered her cream stained mouth. She was just finishing the chocolate flake before she starts to speak again. "I got a real story for you guys." "Oh this is gonna be good," Grace mumbled to herself as she smirked. "Basically yeah," Michelle exclaimed. "The other day I was walking round Sainsbury's with my dad innit, and I was just standing you know, minding my own business, when this one dickhead decides to come up to me," she finished her sentence with added emphasis. "And best believe he decides to say this." She got up and started clapping her hands. "Yo babes! Can I chat to you real quick?!" She said it in the most sonorous tone that she could do which made everyone laugh. "I hate it when boys approach you like that," Grace said. "Innit, and he was doing it with the maddest confidence as well like I haven't already rejected you in my mind." "Why do you girls have to be so rude?" Joshua asked sarcastically. "Because we can," Grace said firmly. "Anyways," Michelle spoke again. "This guy then says, 'listen yeah, I know you don't really know man like that, but I was wondering if I could get your snap and we can um..." She fluffed out her collar and smacked her lips. "Get to know each other," she made some kissing faces but ended up laughing because she couldn't take herself seriously. "So what did you say?" Joshua asked. "I said I wasn't interested and boy! He got mad salty after that." "What was his reaction?" Priscilla asked curiously. "Man started calling me a 'dead ting' and said I should act my face." "Was he attacking your braces?" Grace asked as her eyes widened. "Yeah man, but what I don't understand is," She lifted her spoon up which reflected the sun in the sky. "How can he come chat about my braces when his breath be smelling like a whole public toilet." "A whole public toilet you know," Grace howled with laughter, smacking the table. "Did you actually say that to him?" Joshua asked. "I said his breath stinks and he should have some Oral-B before even coming to chat to me." "After that, I had enough and called my dad who was in the other aisle and guys..." She placed her palms together and took a deep breath. "No joke yeah, that day, I've never seen a guy run so fast." "Loool! He wasn't trying to die!" Grace said out loud. "I know right, scaredy-cat," she laughed to herself. That boy was so confident in the beginning but ran away like a baby the minute her dad was on his way. When she had finished, she grabbed the bag off the floor and stood up. "Kay guys, I'll see you tomorrow. I'm gonna head home now." "Okay, Michelle, see ya," they all said. She waved a final goodbye and sauntered towards the escalator.
