I will walk 2000 miles

Millie My senses start to come back. I lay with my eyes closed. I’m on something cold and hard, and my guess is a concrete floor. I hear a continuous drip like a leak, and the air feels damp. It smells musty, mixed with the overpowering, unmistakable stench of blood. It’s not mine, which means I’m in some kind of lockup. My eyes flutter open as my suspicion is proven correct. I jumped up quickly, surveying my surroundings. There are bars enclosing the cell. The walls have blood splatters and smears covering them. Deep claw marks are on the floors and walls, likely from wolves shifting in the cell. 'We need to get out of here, Millie!' I stare at the silver bars, trying to plot my escape, which seems impossible. Of course, I could break out, but I would injure myself, and weakening myself isn’t wise. It may prevent me from escaping. I heard a loud slam from a heavy metal door, followed by three sets of heavy, quick footsteps. Three men unlock and enter my cell, the two of whom are the Beta and Gamma from outside, and one other wolf. My eyes scanned the Gamma wolf's face, which had bruising all over it. A laugh escapes my lips, and anger flashes over his face. "Wanting more already?" A smirk lands on my face. Satisfaction runs through me with my work of art. My eyes finally land on the third wolf, who is larger. He has dirty blonde hair and green eyes. A long scar from the end of his eyebrow to the bottom of his neck caught my attention. Probably from a fight with an alpha, as most cuts don’t scar, but when it is from an alpha, it won’t heal the same. He finally peels his eyes off my body and stares right into my eyes. Aadya snarls in my head, repulsed by this wolf's obvious attraction toward us. "Fresh meat." I purr to the alpha of the pack Aadya taking on a wolfish grin in my mind. The Beta attacks wrapping his hand around my throat and slamming me into the cement wall behind me. "You will address him by his title, nothing less." He growled, and I pursed my lips before easily breaking out of his grip. I saunter over to the alpha of this strange new pack stopping closer than most would. His warm breath fans my face, and I look up at him from under my lashes. "My apologies Alpha, My name is Roxy. I'm so sorry for coming onto your pack lands." I release my scent, and his eyes start glowing a caramel brown color, showing that he is fighting for control with his wolf. I won him over. I gave him a small kiss on the cheek. Aadya grumbles, her dislike for him potent on my tongue, and I chuckle internally at her. I put her at ease and reassured her that I was just trying to get us out of this cage. "I’m Valen, Alpha of the Dark Moon pack. What were you doing in my territory?" He is more aggressive, probably from his wolf fighting for control. I smiled softly and ran my hand up and down his arm. No more, mister nice guy. I’m going to have to fix that. "Why don’t we go somewhere a little more private, and I’ll tell you?" I watch as he gulps hard and blushes slightly. Although he quickly gains his composure. "Rex, escort Roxy to my room." He orders his Beta, who looks very appalled by the idea. "B-but she’s a prisoner!" He sputters on with his own words. Valen gives him the recognizable alpha glare, forcing his aura on him and causing the Beta to submit. "Yes, Alpha." "I will see you in a little bit." I winked at him as we exited the cell. I hide my satisfaction, but inside I’m jumping for joy at my success. "Make sure no one interrupts us," Valen commands his Gamma as we walk away. "Yes, Alpha." We slowly walked through the pack house as I took in every small detail. Every room we pass seems to have a window to exit if need be. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I slammed into someone. "Oh, my goddess, I’m so sorry. I didn’t hurt you, did I?" A tall, skinny, bubbly woman stared straight into my eyes with panic in hers. She has black hair and bright blue eyes. "No, I’m fine. I’m sorry I wasn’t watching where I was going." I study the two people standing in front of me.
The girl looks like she could be a model. The man next to her is slightly taller than her but is built like a warrior. He has a scar on his upper lip. They look so friendly and inviting. ‘Their energy is pure, unlike the others around here.’ Aadya points out that their scent is of a different pack, not this one. "We should get going, doll. We don’t want to keep your brother waiting. You know how he gets." The girl scoffs and rolls her eyes at the guy, who laughs at her reaction. They are mates, and it is obvious from the way their bodies react to each other so naturally. "Oh, of course, I am sorry again." "It’s no problem." Rex grabs hold of my elbow tightly and drags me away from them. I looked back over my shoulder and saw the girl staring at me with confusion on her face. Rex’s grip tightens, grabbing my attention. "What the hell do you think you were doing?" He hissed through his teeth into my ear. "I ran into her by accident," I said in a flat tone, trying to shrug him off my arm. "What did she say? What did you tell her?" He hissed in my ear, tightening his grip more. What is this asshole's problem? "It doesn’t matter; we’re here," he says firmly. I looked up to see we had stopped in front of a big set of black French doors. I turn to look at Rex, but he opens the door and throws me inside before I can react. I turn to the door, but he closes it behind me. I take a deep breath as Valen's scent hits my nose. Dirt and fresh-cut grass, I whip around to see Valen gawking at me. He stalks toward me like I am his prey, and I back into the door as he traps me between his arms. "What happened to the sassy girl in the cell?" His hot breath fans my face as he stares down at me. Aadya shivers in disgust before going back to pacing in my head, alert and ready to intervene. My guess is she is scenting his wolf and registering bad intentions from him. ‘Calm down, Aadya. I have a plan.’ I grabbed him by his shirt, pulling him closer to me and wrapping my second hand around the back of his neck. "I’m right here." I muster up the most seductive voice I can without gagging at the scent of his arousal and batting my eyelashes at him. He plunges his face into the crook of my neck, sweeping my hair to the side in the process. He inhaled deeply, brushing his nose against the soft spot. He collapsed to the ground right by my feet. Now is my chance. I can feel the power coursing through my veins, waiting to be released. I quickly peeked out the door, knowing I had to hurry because he was an alpha, and I would only put him out for a little over five minutes. Rex is standing right outside the door, facing away from it. I quickly sink my claws into his neck, draining his power and energy, and putting him out longer than Valen. I rush down the hallway and out the door of the house. I don’t stop. Whipping my head around to make sure no one is following me into the woods. My foot hits something, and I fall hard, hitting my head on the ground. A sharp pain radiates throughout my head. ‘Ah, Aadya, help.
’ Within seconds, the pain disappears as Aadya heals me in a flash. I quickly jumped up, panicked. A girl a few inches taller than me looks back at me. She seems a little older. Her eyes were full of sadness and pain. I quickly turned to run from her when I felt her cold hand gently grip my wrist. "Wait, please!" She says quietly, full of desperation. "Let go! I have to get out of here!" I snarled back at her, Aadya, who was threatening to surface. "Take me with you, please." I looked deep into her eyes. One of the many gifts I have is the ability to feel the emotions of others just by looking into their eyes. It makes it impossible for others to lie to me. I feel her pain. She has suffered for years. "Okay, but you have to be quick. Can you mask your scent?" She looks back at me, kind of funny. That’s all I needed to know. She has never learned. Strange because it is a basic skill. I close my eyes, inhaling deeply. She smells like honeysuckle, so sweet, just like her. I lift my arms, forming a mask out of the scent of soil and trees, caking it over her sweet scent. I inhale deeply once more, and the scent is gone like it never existed. I open my eyes. "Okay, we’re ready. Let’s go." I grab her arm, and we take off in the direction I was going before I run into the Beta and Gamma. The she-wolf informs me that we have crossed the territory line as she feels the tie to the pack break. We ran a while after to make sure we put enough distance between us and the territory. Then finally, we stop the wolf. It looks like she is going to collapse from exhaustion. I continuously argue with Aadya, who is grumbling about not trusting this she-wolf. There is something in her eyes, a deep-rooted pain that makes me feel like I can trust her. ----- Katherine and I travel as long as we can until our legs nearly give out and we find ourselves in a damp cave. The musty smell is revolting, but at least we have cover and no one can sneak up on us. The fire blazes between us and I soak up the warmth it gives off enjoying the comfortable silence between us. A branch outside of the cave snaps and I jump to my feet. All my heightened senses are on alert and I hear a heartbeat outside the cave. They’ve found me! A tall shadow looms at the end of the cave until finally they step into it where the fire illuminates their tanned skin. Black shaggy hair and the pale green eyes of my best friend. Maverick stands tall and proud and I can see the longing in his eyes. I don't stay still instead I sprint toward him launching myself into his waiting arms. I wrap myself around him burying my face into the crook of his neck. His scent wrapped around me along with his arms. I can feel it, almost as if I will do everything to protect them. After catching up we plan our next move. North heading to the Northern part of the continent. We would hide within a pack as humans concealing our scents as the safest place for us. The following morning we set out prepared for the journey and bright-eyed excited for what the future would hold for us.
