They tied the horses in the carriage house, out of sight in case anyone happened to be passing by, but the streets on that side of town seemed to be completely deserted. Still, Seth didn't want to take any chances with the valuable animals, so he left Amy to guard them. He ignored his brother as he pushed into the cottage, his eyes desperately seeking Laura.
He quickly assessed the situation. George was off the floor and had been moved onto the couch, where Laura was now cradled comfortably in his arms.
Seth felt a familiar stirring of old jealousy. Even though he now knew that George had no s****l interest in Laura, the incredible bond of their friendship still left him feeling green. He shoved those feelings aside, as there were far more pressing matters at hand.
