Quinn's POV
I usually have things go my way… people bend to my will… including businesses and ladies. All they ever wanted to do was please me, but not her.
My-Laura kissed a man in front of me and I almost leaped from the wheelchair to punch him. She turned to me and dared me with her glare to expose my secret, to stand up, to react, but I wouldn't.
“B-b***h!” The other lady with excessive makeup and what I consider a poor taste in designers rushed toward my-Laura to grab her neck.
“Stop right there!” I ordered with a deep command that unnerved Bianca and made her attacker freeze. “Nobody touches her apart from me.”
“My-Laura” I repeated in my head with the image of her kissing the ugly guy and each moment sent burning flames of anger through me.
The lady that defiled my every order crossed her hands and turned away from me. “I'm not your property and I'll never be one, do us a favor and crawl back home.” She said, and I felt that she fashioned every word to hurt.
The knuckles of my hand that held the forearm of my chair were white from my intense grip and with a press of the button on my chair I slowly moved forward.
“Look… dude, we can sort this out without trying to kill each other.” Lancelot said, his eyes moving from my-Laura to his date for the night.
“I'll tell you how we sort this out… you take three steps back and I'll consider not making you crawl your way out of this building.”
Lancelot's face takes a darker shade, and he takes a step forward, challenging my statement. The men behind me bounced forward beside me, ready to attack at my order.
“I just came to see my father…” Bianca muttered under her breath, but I was close enough to hear. When she raised her head I could see she was fighting back tears and her eyes were red. I'm tempted to stand as my chest tightens and a deep pain seers through my skin.
“Why do you always make everything about you? That's why Dad hates you.” Laura accused and shoved her aside to stand in front of Lancelot. “Please, let's get out of here.”
The words from the clown-looking lady struck My-Laura hard and she grabbed at her arm, seeking comfort from her self-embrace while staring at her feet.
Lancelot shook his head, turning her down and looked at me. “We'll leave after I kick this guy out of this building… Security!”
Three hefty looking men jogged up the alley with a doctor hurrying after them and from his confident strides it was obvious that he was in charge.
“I want you to send this man out of this building, he's harassing your patient's visitors.’’ he continued, looking smug and full of himself. “I heard this building belongs to the Spleen family, is this how they treat people here? Or you're just abusing your power.”
The doctor and the three men trembled as they exchanged a glance.
“Sir Lancelot,” they ushered. My brow furrowed because it was the first time I heard his name mentioned with respect. “Please forgive our misconduct… what is going on here?” the doctor continued.
Lancelot walked to Bianca and held her shoulder, whispering to her. I imagine they're lies of comfort.
“Please remove those men from the building, they've been harassing this lady.”
Damn, that's a lie.
The position of my guard obstructed the doctor from seeing me when he looked my way. His face clouded over with anger, and he pressed a button on his phone. Within minutes, thirteen hefty men join him.
“I'll ask you to leave gently, or I'll have to force you out of the building.” The doctor said.
The combination of Lancelot's hands on my-Laura and the audacity in the doctor's voice fuels my already raging anger.
“Path!” I commanded and my men divided to create a pathway that led to the doctor, four on each side.
The doctor sighted my wheelchair and began to tremble.
“You'll kick me out? With what authority?” I declared and stretched out my hands, to which one of my men quickly handed me a phone. I tapped in a few digits and dialed
“I-I did not kno-know that it's you!” He begged and dropped to the floor on his knees. “Forgive me sir!”
The receiver picked on the first ring.
“James, I want your hospital, name a price and send the bill to my secretary. From now on the Spleen hospital foundation is mine. Do you understand that ?”
The guy at the other end chuckled. “Bossy,” a male voice declared back. “If you want it that badly, I guess you can have it but I want your hotel with the penthouse in return.”
“Done.” I said and cut the call.
“Please, please sir forgive my attitude. I could not have known you'd visit today.”
I ignored the man at my feet and glanced toward Lancelot and his date. “Kick them out of my building, their time here has expired.”
“Y-You—” Lancelot said and held his tongue when all the guards moved in his direction. I made sure to give him a smug look once he walked by as he was escorted out. He was furious and I enjoyed every moment.
My-Laura, the doctor at my feet and I were the only people left at the lobby.
“Scramble…” I said to the doctor and he ran away like there was fire on his clothes. I made a mental note to fire him.
“Don't you have something to say?” I demanded as I grabbed Bianca. She pulled back from me and shook her head.
“Your grandfather's condition is really unstable. We'll need to push him for an emergency operation he should have gotten before now”, Someone said behind me. I turned to a blonde-haired youth in a white lab coat who nodded at me and faced Bianca. “I'm Luke. '' he added.
She bit the inside of her cheeks so hard I could notice the dent.
“How are you going to pay the bills?” I asked and leaned into my chair.
“Does this make you happy?” She retorted with tears at the edge of her eyes.
“Does kissing another man in front of your husband excite you?”
Luke looked from one person to the other and readjusted the pen in his front pocket.
“Did I interrupt anything?” he asked and took a step back as we glared at each other.
“Can I move him from this facility?” Bianca asked.
Luke shook his head thoughtfully. “I'd advise against that, his body is under enough strain and I fear it'll be fatal if you try to move him.”
Bianca bit the downside of her lips and turned to me. “Will you help me?”
*Will you go back home with me and be a good girl?”
She nodded and tears rolled down her eyes.
I want to smile at my little victory, but seeing her cry makes it taste bitter in my mouth.
“Luke, start the needed surgery and make sure you put him in the best room and give him the highest care.”
“Excuse me, who're you?” Luke asked.
“The new owner of this building and your boss. Quinn Talon ” I replied and led Bianca out, leaving behind an open-mouthed Luke who quickly organized himself and hurried to do his job.
I liked that Bianca didn't resist and let me lead her into the car.
“You like the thrill of your own name.” She said once we were seated in the car that'd take us home.
“And you hate it but clearly still need me to cater for you.”
She withdraws from me and shuts up. My words are harsh, but I dislike that I'm starting to care about her view point.
The rest of the ride progressed in silence. Once inside, we meet Tasha at the doorway to my office with her arms crossed.
“I'll be in my room,” Bianca states as she gives Tasha a look of irritation before stalking off to which Tasha matches with a frown. The door slammed shut and Tasha chuckled, and somehow it pissed me off.
“I told you to be gone by the time I got back…. Now, get out.” Her smile fell away and she frowned.
“Is it because of her?”
I walked up to her and grabbed her chin. “I hate it when you disobey me. Get out, or I'll have my guards throw you out.”
She panned a glare in Bianca's direction and walked out, slamming the door hard.
I rubbed my hair and stood up from my wheelchair, seeing Bianca kissing another guy made my skin crawl and the mere sight of Tasha brought it back. I hated every moment.
I frowned and made my way toward our room.
