Ryan doesn't come back to the office. Eudora leaves work alone and takes a taxi home.
She can't help but think that he is probably enjoying himself with that elegant woman. A bitter feeling wells up inside her, but it is quickly replaced by a longing for Donna. They have been inseparable for so long, and now being apart is difficult for both of them.
Eudora eats a quick dinner and then calls Donna for a long chat. Even though she knows Ryan probably won't return, she can't bring herself to be hopeful and risk going to the hospital to see her daughter. She is afraid he will discover her secret. Compared to him, she feels weak and vulnerable, like an ant that could be easily crushed. If he decides to fight for custody, she knows she would lose badly.
