Right now, Ryan was at a loss for words, unsure how to face Eudora.
“What's wrong?” she asked, noticing his dazed expression.
Startled, Ryan met her worried gaze. All he felt was a desperate urge to escape.
“I'm fine,” he mumbled.
Eudora hesitated for a moment before speaking again.
“If... you really can't accept that Ken is gay, then I won't mention him around you anymore,” she said.
Eudora knew that there were some people in the world who were extremely prejudiced against homosexuals, who felt uncomfortable even hearing about such things, like Ken's mother, for example. She didn't understand them, but she could sympathize.
Ryan quickly explained, “That's not it, you're misunderstanding. I was just surprised, that's all.”
Eudora breathed a sigh of relief, replying, “That's good.”
