The Mishra divorce became final on January 10. Jordan expected it to go faster, but opposing counsel had a few tricks up his sleeve and he pulled every one of them out on behalf of his client. “She’s paying me well,” Tom admitted in private, “but I’ve got to admit I hope they all fail. She shouldn’t have custody of the kids, and I don’t think she has any good motives for wanting the marriage to continue either.”
Jordan had to agree. “I don’t want to get all judgmental about it, but I’ve never had a client join a cult and try to kidnap their kids before. I should probably just keep my mouth shut and stuff.” He took a sip of wine.
“Her kids seem very comfortable with you,” Tom continued. “You’ve gotten close with the family, I take it?”
“I had a brief affair with her brother.”
