Jordan typically went all out for Valentine’s Day. He couldn’t get away with declaring the day a holiday and giving staff paid time off. He couldn’t imagine facing a judge and explaining he couldn’t work on divorce cases on Valentine’s Day. The contempt fines would put them out of business, even if they could manage to retain clients. The courts were open, so the office had to be open.
He could and did give people small bonuses. He gave gifts to the entire staff, from his fellow partners right down to the cleaning service. He put up decorations, brought in cupcakes, and all in all made a point of celebrating every kind of love there was. He celebrated relationships, just as he’d once explained to Sam, and he never once thought of feeling bad about it.
