Chapter 7

"Good day Sir." The men greeted Dayo and he nodded,

Then they opened the door for him and Enitan to go in,

She was surprised when she saw the place,

It wasn't a room,

Rather it was an open balcony but very wide and spacious.

There was a swimming pool on the other side and a few people were inside the pool,

With the girls wearing bikini while the guys were wearing just briefs,

She frowned her face on how the girls exposed their bodies for public view.

A bar corner was beside the door,

A man was behind the counter and he was serving drinks to people,

Loud music was playing and some people were playing snooker on the snooker table,

Some where drinking and smoking while some where dancing,

All were half n***d or just wearing briefs.

"What's this place?

Why are those girls n***d?" Enitan asked Dayo,

He just smiled,

Let's go to that corner,

It's less deafening there." He pointed to a corner by the barricade and they went there,

He brought out a seat for her and she sat down,

Then he sat opposite her.

"What's this place?" Enitan asked him again,

Curiosity was plastered all over her face,

She looks very cute when she's serious,

He thought to himself.

"This is a club." He just said,

That didn't ease her curiosity rather it escalated it,

"What club?

Is a club where you get n***d,drink,smoke and display affection to public?" She asked him again,

She wasn't amused this time.

"Not really,

People do drink and some smoke but getting n***d and kissing isn't mostly part of it..."

He turned to the pool,

A guy was kissing a girl inside the pool,

"See those two," He pointed at them,

Enitan frowned deepened but that wasn't his point,

"They're dating and that's why they do that,

Kiss in public."

"Do you and Folake kiss like that do?" She blurted,

The way he looked at her made her coil back in an apologetic way,

"Sorry,

That was supposed to be personal."

She apologized,

"No we don't and who even told you she's my girlfriend?" He asked her when he already know the answer.

"Isn't she your girlfriend?"

"No,

I mean we'd s*x but that doesn't mean she's my..."

"You did what?" She asked explosively,

"We'd sex." He repeated,

She was looking at him with disbelief,

"Why would you do that?" She asked him,

"It's wrong to do it with someone especially when you guys aren't married...."

He chuckled and her forehead creased more in disgust.

"That's old fashion way of life,

Now people do it anyhow and with anyone and that doesn't mean you love the person or whatever.

We boys,we do it for fun.

We meet girls,have s*x with them then we talk to our friends about it,

Just for fun,

No commitment,no nothing."

Enitan was quite surprised though,

So what Dorothy told her was the truth?

That's so unfair.

"It's not fair,

You're hurting those girls." She told him,

He just smiled,

She sighed,

"Just tell me please." He whined,

She found it funny and she smiled,

"You look beautiful when you're smiling." He commented,

She just nodded.

"Okay about myself,

"Anything at all as long as it’s about you."

She just nodded.

"Okay,

You know my name already and know that I'm an orphan and I want to study Business Administration and I got two scholarships,

What's there to me that you don't know?" She asked him,

"Other things like what your likes are and what your dislikes are,

Your favorite foods,your ambition,your dream and all that,

Just something." He explained to her.

"Okay,

My likes mm...

I love reading and I love eating too,

I hate it when people lie to me

When they cheat,try to deceive me or when they try to take advantage of my good nature.” She said seriously.

“I dislike unserious people most especially when it comes to their educational life,

I hate people who cheat others or oppress them cause they think they're better and has more power.

I don't have favorite food or anything,as long as it's good,edible and nutritious,

I'm good with it.

I want to own my own business,

Maybe a cloth line or shoe line or even a supermart cause that's what's trending good now,

Then my dream is to be the best version of myself,be a philanthropist and make my mom proud."

Dayo was smiling when she finished,

She'd good dreams and if she put her mind to it,

She would achieve all her dreams.

"So what about you,

What are your dreams?" She asked him,

He looked around the place then looked at her,

"Go to school,graduate and have fun."

She frowned at his words,

He was repeating the same words he said to her at the restaurant the other day and that's being irresponsible.

"What would you do if you've kids and they're dreamless,clueless and live life on their terms,

No plan for the future,no nothing,

Just waiting for you to die so they would spend your money,

What would you do if you're their father?" She asked him.

He frowned,

"I would make sure they don't have my money..."

"That's what I will suggest to your father if I ever see him." She said and he frowned.

"Dayo,

You need to take life seriously before it takes you serious,

You're young and vibrant and would do more good to yourself and the society if you become hardworking and serious now..

It's not a bad idea to acquire your father's property,

But just imagine if your father had been like you,

Waiting for his own father to die so he would get everything he has,

Would you be here today?

No!

You won't be and bet he won't be where he's now.

He would have been begging for money,eating from hand to mouth and might now even have your mother,you or your sisters,

He would be alone and poor.

He didn't want that,

So he began to work hard,

He worked hard to ensure he's where he's today and sorry to say this,

He won't give you anything if you continue like this,

Rather be would give everything to your sisters cause they deserve it better."

She went on and on talking to him about the adventures of him working hard so he doesn't end up a disgrace to his family,

Dayo was awed when she finished.

No one not even his mother or his friends had given him such advice before,

His father was strict to him but he has never for once called him and gave him such advice before,

There he resolved to turning a new leaf not for himself but for his unborn children,

The children he was sure Enitan would birth to him if he pulls the right string.

They talked a lot,he ordered them lunch which they went down to eat,

They had snacks too,

He took her to the mall in the hotel and got her a new phone,

She refused it but he pleaded with her to.

When his pleadings became too much,

She accepted the phone but openly told him he didn't want anything else from him unless he changes and become a better person.

After spending the day together,

The sun was setting and it was time for her to go home,

Without her knowing Dayo slipped some money and a piece of paper into her purse cause he knows she won’t accept them if he gave it to her.

He drove her home and stopped a building away from hers,

"Thank you so much for coming out with me." He thanked her,

She shook her head,

"I should be thanking you Dayo,

I'd fun."

"So were friends now?" He asked her,

She nodded.

"As long as you do all I told you,

I don't see why we shouldn't be."

She told him,

"Okay,

We're friends now,no more snubbing me and acting like I'm invisible okay."

She just nodded.

Then silence followed,

He was just looking at her while she was looking at the steering,

"I should be going inside now,

You need to go home and I need to be home too.

Thanks again for everything." She broke the awkward silence,

He nodded immediately,

Then brought his hand to unfasten the seatbelt.

He undid it then opened the door for her,

"Goodnight and thank you." She said as she got out of the car,

He nodded with a smile and watched her till she entered into her gate.

He stayed there for awhile,

Thinking of how happy he was going out with her,

It surprised him cause it was the first time in his life he stayed and entire day with a lady as beautiful as Enitan without having s*x or thinking of having s*x,

She has changed him without her knowing.

When Enitan entered the compound,

The first person she saw was Folake and she was with her younger brother Tunde,

‘Well I'm not doing anything wrong,

Dayo and I are just friends and he said she isn't his girlfriend,

So there's nothing to be worried about.’

"Sister Enitan good evening." Tunde,Folake's brother greeted,

That was when Folake raised her head up.

"Ah Enitan,

This one you're looking good today,

Is like you went out." Folake said looking at Enitan and how beautiful she was dressed,

"Not really,

I went to see a friend." She half lied.

Folake didn't buy that but wasn't concerned,

She knows Enitan doesn't keep friends,

The girl hardly socialize with other apartments from little kids which she loves dearly but her peers,

She's practically an anti-social nerd.

"Whatever,

What did you bring for us?” Folake asked and Enitan just smiled,

"Actually nothing,

We just had lunch and I didn't bring any home,

Maybe next time."

She hurriedly went inside to avoid more discussions from Folake.

She opened the purse to take out her keys and that was when she saw the neatly wrapped one thousand naira notes in her bag,

She was surprised,

When did Dayo put this money here?

She asked herself as she brought out her keys.

When she went inside,

She took out the money and counted it,

Twenty thousand naira,

She was shocked beyond words,

Why would he put twenty thousand naira in her bag?

There was also a note with it also,

"Sorry Enitan,

But I know you would refuse it if I'd offered it to you,

So I wanted to give you my own way.

She just smiled at the note and kept it back into the purse with the money.

Then she brought out the phone,

It's a flat screen phone,just like the one Mrs Okawe was using...

The thought of the woman struck something in her,

How will she tell her about Dayo,this one and his gifts?

She sure wouldn't be in support of all this but she'll try as much as possible to tell her that there's nothing on between her and Dayo and they're just friends and nothing more,
