Chapter 6

After he left,

Enitan went inside and took a few things before leaving the house,

Dayo's invitation filled her head as she kept thinking about it,

What does he want to ask her?

He said he wants to learn from her,

What does he think she would teach him?

Apart from being intelligent,

She knew that she'd nothing else to teach him,

Absolutely nothing,

So he should stop wasting his time following her around like a housefly pursuing a corpse.

After the day's work,

She decided to visit Mrs Okawe and her family,

Especially little Osas who she'd missed alot.

"Sister Enitan!" She heard Osas cry and she came out of the kitchen just to see Enitan in the living room holding the boy,

"Good evening ma." Enitan greeted the woman still holding the boy who'd refused to let go,

"Evening dear,

How're you?

Though you won't come again." She asked and Enitan just smiled.

"I got caught up with a few errands that's why I'm late." She explained to the woman,

"Okay,help with the table,

Dinner is almost done."

Enitan nodded and went to the dining table where she helped Adesua,

Mrs Okawe's first daughter who was three years younger.

After dinner,

She helped Adesua do the dishes then she joined Mrs Okawe in the living room afterwards,

The kids were rounding up their homework while the two younger ones who were done with theirs were already asleep.

Enitan wanted to talk about Dayo to Mrs Okawe but on a second thought,

She decided not to,

There are some things that aren't worth talking about,

Dayo and his advances are one of them,

It wasn't worth talking about.

"You sure you don't have any problem?" Mrs Okawe asked Enitan after they've sat for a long time and had discussed a lot,

"No,

I'm fine,

We're just waiting for next month,

Nothing else." She told the woman,

She nodded,

"It's getting late now,

I should be heading home."

Mrs Okawe looked at the wall clock in the living room,

It's a few minutes past seven,

It's late.

"Okay dear,

Take care of yourself." She told Enitan,

She nodded and stood up then went to the door,

"Tell Osas good night for me." She told her,

Mrs Okawe nodded and unbolt the door for Enitan who went outside,

"Good night ma." She said to the woman before she went out of the verandah and walked out of the gate.

When Enitan got home,

She was getting out of her clothes when she heard a knock on the door,

Is it Folake?

She stood up from the bed and walked to the door,

"Who's there?" She asked softly,

"It's me Caleb,

Enitan my sister asked me to call you."

She heaved a sigh of relief,

It was Caleb,

The young boy who lives with his older sister,

They live in one of the self-contain in the front.

"Okay,

Tell her I'm coming." She took another skirt since she'd removed the jean trouser she'd worn to work,

She wore it and went outside closing the door behind her.

"Let's go."

She said to the boy who she surprisingly still saw outside,

She took his hand and they walked together to their apartment,

They went inside and there was aunty Dorothy sitting on the chair.

"Good evening aunty." Enitan greeted the lady,

She smiled,

"Ehm Caleb,

Go play with Ade." She told the boy who left immediately like he was waiting for the permission since,

Now it was just Enitan and aunty Dorothy in the living room.

"Sit down Enitan."

She told Enitan who sat down thereafter,

"A guy came here earlier and he said he was looking for you,

He dropped something for me to give you when you return home."

She stood up and brought out the souvenir bag from the back of the chair and handed it to Enitan,

She reluctantly took the bag from her but didn't open it.

"Don't mind me if I'm being nosy but I thought that boy was Folake's boyfriend?" She asked Enitan,

"I've seen him coming to their place a few times,

Most time with his friends while the other time alone,

Why's he coming after you then?" She asked again,

Enitan didn't even know what to tell her,

She didn't even know what Dayo wants from her and here he's sending her gifts,

Gifts she would throw away once she leaves here.

"That boy is a rich boy and he seems like a player and Enitan,

I've known you for just a few years and I've seen you and you're a disciplined girl.

That boy would be a distraction to you,

I know his kind,

They would lure innocent and naive girls like you to their nest and they would use you and after they must have taken what they want to take,they'll dump you."

Enitan said nothing to the lady,

What does she have to say to her?

Explain to her that Dayo isn't her boyfriend and neither is she interested in him or explain to her that he wants them to talk and after that they would stop talking to each other,

She'd no explanation to give to her.

"I'm just telling you cause I like you alot,

You see Folake,I don't associate with her or call her to tell her this cause her way of life is too rough,

She doesn't heed to advice and I don't give my advice to such people,

But you're different,you're humble and respectful topping it all with beauty and intelligence,

Don't let these boys deceive you." She told Enitan,

"Yes ma,

Thanks for the advice." Enitan thanked the lady when she noticed she was done talking,

She took the bag and left.

She couldn't throw away the bag like she intended to,

She took it inside and closed the door,

Then she opened it to see what was inside it.

She brought out a yellow colored gown,

It wasn't short,

Just knee length and was free.

It'd a cartoon character holding a flower drawn on it's front,

The gown was so beautiful Enitan couldn't stop admiring it.

Next was a white sandals,it was just like any other sandals but the metal bow tie which was used to design the top made it look more beautiful,

Then came the white purse that came along with it,

Enitan was surprised when she brought them out,

She hasn't expected Dayo to get her all this,

She didn't expect him too.

There was a paper inside the purse,

It was handwritten letter and she could tell from the writing it was Dayo's,

"Dear Enitan,

Can you wear that gown tomorrow,

Want to know how it would look on you plus I would be coming by one to pick you up.

From Dayo."

She didn't even know what to do again,

He's really hoping on her coming when she's thinking of not going,

She recalled what aunt Dorothy told her,

Then looked at the beautiful gown,sandals and handbag,

"Just this once,

Just this once." She said to herself repeatedly as she resolved in her heart to go with Dayo.

The next day,she left early and did all her work hoping to finish by mid day

Then she would go back home and rest before preparing to leave with Dayo.

She finished her chores a few minutes to twelve,

Then she came home,

She had a cold shower cause it was hot and sunny,

She washed her hair too,

Then she sat down half n***d in the room allowing the breeze from the window to sooth her skin and dry her wet hair.

After resting for awhile,

She looked at the clock,

It's twenty minutes to one,

She hot up from the bed and started preparing,

Combed her long and curly natural hair and styled it how she did best,

Packing it to an afro.

She wore the gown and the sandal,

Then she took some money and kept it inside the purse,

She hates going out without cash,

If in any case she gets stranded and has to return on her own.

She took her wristwatch,the watch that was once her her mother's and put it around her wrist,

She was laying her edges when she heard a knock on the door.

"Who's there?" She asked,

"It's me Caleb,

Sister Enitan,a guy is waiting for you outside." She heard the boy's voice,

She checked her watch,

It was just five minutes to one.

"Okay,I'm coming." She said to the boy,

Then picked her house keys and put it inside her purse,

She took the padlock and went outside,

She locked the door and followed Caleb outside.

Dayo was awestruck when he saw her come out of the gate,

The gown was more beautiful than he expected,

She was looking like an angel,

He chose the best color for her cause the wine color blended very well with her skin and she was looking so beautiful he was drooling.

"Snap outta it Dayo,

Remember,you're not to show any sort of love or affection to her,

This is strictly friendship."

He called himself to order immediately.

He got out of the car and opened the front door for her,

When she entered the car,

He closed it and went round it from the back and got into the front seat beside her,

"Where are we going to?" She asked him,

"You look so beautiful Enitan,

You look great."

"Thanks,

Oh my bad,

Thanks for the gift,

I like it."

"You're welcome,

It looks very beautiful on you."

He told her and began to drive away,

"And as for where we're going,

It's a surprise." He told her,

She said nothing,

Not like she could say anything.

He drove her to an hotel in Victoria Island and they were showered inside when he showed them his gold card,

"Wow,

This place is very beautiful." She exclaimed when they came inside,

He just smiled,

"Yes it's,

It's my dad's hotel more like,

He's the biggest shareholder in the hotel." He said with an air of pride,

Enitan just nodded.

They went into the elevator,

And Dayo punched the buttons so it would take them to the tenth floor,

He looked at Enitan when they were alone in the moving elevator,

She seem scared and at the same time,

She was thrilled and surprised too that they would be going up in a cubicle and not using the normal stairs.

In a few minutes,they were out of the elevator and she was relaxed again but still thrilled,

He led her to the door in front of them,

Two men wearing black suits and black glasses were standing by each side of the door and from the look on their face,

They seem very dangerous.

Enitan hid behind Dayo at the sight of them,

He could tell she was scared of the mean looking bouncers,

"Don't worry,

They won't hurt you,

They're just guarding the place and ensuring that people without the gold card don't get in." He chided her softly,amused that she was scared of the men,

He never thought she would be scared of anything.
