Chapter 4

Dayo was down when he drove home that night,

He didn't know what to do or say to her anymore,

She just didn't want to associate with him or anyone.

He stayed in his room all night thinking of her,

He thought of every possible way he would make her be friends with him,

All he knew he'd tried but none was working.

So he took his laptop and went to his search,

"How to make a girl like me." He typed on his search box,

Many articles came out but all seemed irrelevant to what he wanted,

"How to make an introvert fall in love?"

He went for the second search,

He read the articles they popped up,

From getting closer to the person to buying gifts and all he saw but knowing how Enitan is,

He knows such stuffs won't work for her.

He went on and on till midnight yet he hadn't seen anything catchy,

Not until he came across a short review on an article where the writer wrote how he made his over serious neighbor fall in love with him.

He said he saw her at a party and thereafter found out she lives just a stone throw from his house but the problem was she was stuck up being Ms Prim and Proper and was way too serious.

He said he started with coming close to her with school work,

He would tell her to help him with this assignment or this,

To teach him science,

To explain some few things for him and as time went on,

They became friends.

He said it took him seven years to finally make her fall in love with him,first as acquaintances,then they graduated to being friends and from there they begang dating,

Then they started dating and being in love til she finally agreed to marry him.

He said it took him seven years,

A whooping seven years but now they're married and love each other....

That review struck Dayo,

It took the man seven years but he got his desired result,

He can wait more than that as long as Enitan likes him back,

He doesn't mind.

The next day,

He didn't show up at her place and so did the day after,

But on the third day,

He'd his plans all straightened up and was ready to put it to full effect,

Getting a few of his textbooks and notebooks,

He shove them into a backpack and left the house.

Folake was outside when he got to their house that morning,

She was on her phone when he opened the gate and came in,

"Ah Dayo,

This one you're here this early morning,

Is anything the matter?" She asked him surprisingly,seeing him show up as early as that,

He nodded,

"It's nothing,

Just that I've got a bit of problem trying to solve a few math and I wanted to know if you could help me." He said to her,

She wasn't still convinced but couldn't point out to anything.

"Bring it let me see." She told him,

Dayo brought his bag and took out the textbook,

Then open a random problem and showed it to Folake,

"Can you help me?

My older sis is on my neck,

She saw my Jamb score and said she wanted to be sure I didn't flunk it." He lied to Folake who bought the lie immediately,

"I can't but I know of someone who would help you,

Enitan would." She told him,

He smiled inwardly but plastered a frown on his face.

"You know that girl like to snub someone,

I don't think she would agree if I ask her,

Can you ask her for me?" He pleaded with Folake,

"I'll Dayo,

I'll."

Folake stood up immediately and went to the backyard,

Enitan's door was closed but not locked,

So she knew she was inside.

"Enitan." She called her as she knocked,

The door opened an Enitan came out of the room,

"What's it?" She asked Folake seeing her in front of her house that early,

While Folake gave her a guileless smile.

"I want you to do me a favor,

You see that my boyfriend Dayo,

He wants someone to help him with a few maths problems his sister gave him and you know I don't know maths too well,

So I want to ask you to help him with it." Folake pleaded,

Enitan frowned at the mention of Dayo's name.

"But I'm suppose to go to work,

I can't leave work for....."

"Enitan please now,

Okay,

I'll pay you for it.

His older sister had promised him a car if he does well and I can't sit by and watch my boyfriend lose his car because of math when I know I have someone to help him.

Eni,pease I'm begging you,

I'll pay you for today's work too." Folake pleaded with Enitan who wasn't still convinced.

"Enitan please,

Can’t you just help someone?” She asked her,giving her best and most pitiful pout,

“Please

I’ll pay for your today work."

Enitan took a deep breathe,

Okay since it's pertaining academics,

She would help him as long as he doesn't deviate from the main point.

"Okay,

I'll help him." She let out a sigh,

Folake smiled,

"OK thank you,thank you,thank you." She jubilated,

Enitan just faked a smile and went back inside to change into something else since she won't be going to work again.

Folake waited till she changed and came out then together they went to see Dayo who was sitting on the seat Folake had sat on,

"Hey Enitan..."

"Where's the question?" She asked Dayo ignoring his greetings,

His demeanor slowly changed.

"Yes the question,

Ehm....

There are a lot of them,

We should probably sit somewhere." He said to her,

She looked at Folake then back to Dayo and she nodded.

The questions Dayo picked weren't as difficult as she thought they would be but nevertheless,

She still taught him how to go about and made him do them himself,

After then she did a few corrections for him and they went on and on till midday.

Dayo insisted on taking them for lunch but Enitan declined the offer,

"But why?

Let it be my way of saying...."

"Don't worry,

You can go with Folake,

I'm not interested." She turned him down before he could give further explanation.

Dayo really wanted to take her to lunch,

He wanted it to just be the both of them but Enitan refusing to go,

He'd to include Folake in the plan but still she refused,

"Why don't you want to join us?" Folake asked Enitan,

Her voice was impatient cause she thinks Dayo might change his mind very soon.

"It's just lunch plus I'm coming with you guys,

Why are you acting all goody goody?"

Enitan became mad at Folake's question but she knew there was nothing she would do to her,

Folake was older than her by a few months,

So it would be disrespectful to talk back at her especially with Dayo,her boyfriend with them.

"Dayo if she doesn't want to go,

Let's go alone." Folake said to Dayo,

He ignored her and looked at Enitan,

"Let's just have lunch together,

It's a cafeteria and not like I'm taking you to my house.

I would bring you guys back okay,

I promise." Dayo explained to her,

She was hesitant at first but decided to give it a try,

It would be no harm having lunch with them.

"Okay." She said begrudgingly,

Dayo's face lit up immediately she accepted and Folake's frown deepened,

She wanted to with Dayo alone,

She didn't want Enitan to say yes but the lowlife had to say yes and now it would be all three of them.

Folake went in and changed into something better while Enitan said she was going the way she was,

A floral print gown which she'd bought from night market and her slippers,

Dayo didn't force her to go change,

She looked good anyways and he feared she might change her mind if he asked her to go change.

Folake came out a few minutes later and she was a complete metamorphosis,

A blue leggings and a white top,

She was now wearing a wig to cover her braids,carrying a black handbag and was wearing a black sandal,

She was looking good too but can't be compared to Enitan.

They went into Dayo's car and Enitan took the back seat while Folake rushed to the front seat,

So as to sit beside Dayo who took the driver's seat,

Dayo wasn't happy but he knew he can't ask Enitan to come to the front cause she would refuse and might even change her mind on going,

So he just kept shut,started the car and began to drive.
