It was a little after midnight in Sagaponack and the Mayhew residence was under lockdown. Two troopers were guarding the mansion, one at the front gate and one at the back entrance. A lone cyclist rode past the trooper’s car and, without warning, lost control of his bike, falling to the ground. The trooper approached the cyclist. “Are you okay?” “s**t, I think I hurt my knee.
