Zachariah returned to his house on Shore Crest Drive after a twenty-mile bike ride. He made himself a protein drink and put on “The Flight of the Valkyries” by Richard Wagner. The only light in the room was the red-orange glow of the sunset. He sat on the sofa and opened a mahogany wooden box. He removed a smaller antique glass box filled with a white powder and two gold straws. He put a small amount of the powder on the table in front of him and snorted it.
