Chapter 12
Cody spent most of Wednesday reading by the pool. He wore heavy sunscreen and sat in the shade, but he still found his skin darkening somewhat, to his chagrin. He grew more accustomed to the heat and had a few short conversations with other hotel guests. No one bothered him when he slept for hours on the lawn chairs.
Lin called Thursday morning and asked if he could make a meeting at Dominic’s house. He jumped at the chance. She picked him up and didn’t comment on the hoodie.
They reached Dominic’s house and Cody followed Lin inside, where they found Dominic and Naomi chatting in the living room.
“Welcome, welcome,” Dominic said, handing Lin a glass of wine. “There’s a pasta casserole in the oven, and an apple pie cooling. Caleb should be here in a few.”
