“Holy f*****g s**t! My soulmate is the King of Demons!” I hissed to myself.
I grabbed my phone and took a quick snap of the picture to send it to the group chat. I frantically typed away at my screen, sending the picture and text off. My heart was pounding nervously in my chest as I sent the message off.
Me: Look at this photo and tell me you see what I see!
Nal: Mr. Tall, Dark, and absolutely Sinful.
Jaz: Mmm. What I wouldn’t do to feel him over and under me.
Raq: Damn!!! Where did you find this picture at?
Nic: Woohoo baby! Mama likey!
I rolled my eyes. Of course, they would be attracted to his looks, don’t know what man or woman wouldn’t. I felt a pang of jealousy in my chest, but I just ignored it. I needed them to focus on the big picture that I was facing.
Me: Zoom in on the pic!
Nal: Damn! He got some muscles on him.
Raq: He can toss me anyway he likes!
Nic: LOL!!!!
Jaz: Anyone look at what he’s packing down below?
I growled in frustration, rolling my eyes. I was tempted to zoom in, but I forced myself not to.
Me: His head! Zoom in on his head!
No one texted back for a while, and it made me wonder if they got distracted or something. I didn’t have to wait long before messages were coming through at a rapid pace.
Nal: b***h!
Jaz: NFW!!!!!
Nic: f**k me!
Raq: How did you find out?
Me: Got a call about meeting him tonight.
Nal: Tonight?!
Raq: Where?!
Nic: When?!
Me: DK. S’pose to get another call or something with the details
Jaz: Tell us when you get it!
Nic: We’ll show up and watch.
I sighed in relief. I was glad I had friends that were willing to look out for me. I would feel better knowing that they were somewhere close while I meet with him. I’m pretty sure that they were already planning a way for me to escape in case things go south.
A new message popped up on my screen, but it was from an unknown number. I opened it up and saw that it had a time and address on it.
Unknown: Riker’s Steakhouse at 8 p.m.
Riker’s? That’s two hours away. There's no way I'll be able to make it home, change, and get up there in time.
Me: Any chance the location can be changed. That’s two hours away.
There was no response and I waited to see if they would respond back. I really hoped they would, I was curious about meeting my so-called mate.
Everything is going to be okay, Layla. Deep breaths.
Three dots appeared on the scream as I waited anxiously for the reply. I sighed in relief when the message came through where they changed the location.
Unknown: Lehja at 8 p.m.
Me: That’s fine. I’ll be there.
Unknown: Very well.
Lehja was a nice Indian restaurant about forty-five minutes away that sat in the heart of Short Pump with other semi-upscale restaurants. It was a nice and intimate place to sit down and talk while enjoying your meal. I’ve been there once or twice on dates and enjoyed the meals there.
Me: Lehja @ 8
I sent a quick text to the group and the four of them quickly responded with thumbs up.
Nal: Comin’ over to get you ready.
Nic: Got a wig haven’t worn that would look amazing on ya
Raq: I’ll reserve a table for us four.
Jaz: You still got the champagne dress that makes your boobs big?
I knew exactly what dress she was talking about. I had bought as an impulse by the last time we all went shopping. I had nothing to go with it but couldn’t leave it on the rack since it was on sale, and it fit.
Me: Don’t have shoes for it.
Jaz: Think I got something in my closet that’ll work.
Me: Fine.
I sat back in my chair and closed my eyes. I opened them back up and stared up at the ceiling.
“I have a date with the King of Demons,” I whispered, sitting back up.
I gave in to the temptation and zoomed in on the lower half of the picture. My eyes rounded as I stared at the very faint, very fuzzy, very, poorly pixelated outline against his thigh. I licked my lips, wondering if what I was hoping I was seeing was true.
“Sweet Baby Jesus.”
Nerves and excitement were going to be companions for the rest of tonight. Hopefully I wouldn’t make a fool of myself in front of him and the rest of the restaurant.
