“Is it safe? I mean, does Rowdy know of it?” Van inquired, not that he was afraid, more like he wanted to be prepared. Being with Hunter made him feel safe and protected.
“No one knows, not even my family.” Hunter froze, then added, “Well, my Pop and Ethan do, but that’s in case something were ever to go wrong and…”
“I get it, babe.” Van nodded.
“Why don’t you grab a nap if you’re tired,” Hunter said, patting his thigh for Van to lay his head on.
“As tempting as that is, I think I’ll stay awake a bit longer. How many miles are we going?”
“About two hundred or maybe a little more. Should you call Matty to let him know you’re safe for the moment and not to worry?”
“Yeah, probably.” Van snorted. “He’s a worrier. I guess in his shoes, I would be, too. I’ll send him a text and
