Gabrielle hadn’t been gone for more than ten minutes when a piercing wail split the air. It was beyond painfully loud for me, and the other shifters in the room didn’t seem to like it, either. At least shifter healing would repair whatever hearing damage we accrued. After a couple repetitions, the siren wound down, and not a moment too soon.
