Several deer in the field tensed as I exited the hotel. I didn’t know how one went about saying hello when in animal form, so I stopped and waved a paw as best I could before resuming my trot toward the eastern forest. I think a few deer and a rabbit or two waved back. The trees I could see seemed to be conifers for the most part. The scents of pine and spruce filled my lungs with each inhalation, and trampling the grass of the field with my paws felt good. There was a time for careful stalking, but this wasn’t it.
