Chapter 1: Shattered Dreams
The last thing Ella expected to find on the eve of her wedding was her fiancé's lips on someone else's skin.
She pushed open the door to her suite, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Tomorrow was the big day her wedding to Shaun. The thought sent butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
As she stepped inside, Ella's world imploded. She caught Shaun, her fiancé, in the act, his body entwined with Margo's, one of her bridesmaids. They were having s*x, their movements frenzied and intimate.
Shaun's voice, husky and raw, moaned Margo's name, shattering Ella's heart into a million pieces.
Ella's mind reeled, her vision blurring. The scene before her was like a punch to the gut, leaving her breathless and stunned.
"Margo...oh, Margo," Shaun whispered, his body trembling with pleasure.
Ella's eyes locked onto Shaun's, her voice barely above a whisper. "Shaun...how could you?"
The room's opulence the plush carpet, the crystal chandelier faded into the background. The sweet scent of roses, once her favorite, now turned her stomach.
"Shaun! What is the meaning of this? How could you do this to me?" Ella's voice trembled, her words echoing off the walls.
Margo rushed out, casting a sly smile at Ella. "Excuse me," she said, implying Ella should step aside. The door creaked shut behind Margo, leaving Ella and Shaun in an uncomfortable silence.
Ella's eyes remained fixed on Shaun, her heart racing. "Our wedding is tomorrow, and you're already cheating? We're not even married yet." Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes.
Shaun pleaded, "Please, babe, it was a mistake. I didn't mean to..." His voice trailed off as Margo reappeared, her gaze falling on her discarded panties on the floor.
Ella's tears flowed anew, her body shaking with sobs. "Get out!" Shaun ordered Margo, his face reddening.
Ella's anguish deepened. "No wonder you've been acting weird. You were dating her behind my back." Her mind reeled with memories of Shaun's distant behavior.
Shaun begged for forgiveness, but Ella's thoughts turned to her parents. Calling off the wedding would disappoint them and vindicate her father's warnings about Shaun.
"Forgive you? Do I have a choice? My wedding is tomorrow... I'll go through with it," Ella said, tears streaming down her face. The weight of her decision settled upon her like a shroud.
As she turned away, Shaun's desperate whisper followed her: "Ella, please..." But she was already gone, lost in her shattered dreams.
After Ella stormed out, Shaun slumped against the door, overcome with self-disgust. "How could I have done this to Ella?" he wondered, his mind racing with guilt and regret.
Earlier that night, Shaun had been celebrating with his friends at the bachelor party.
"Cheers to the groom!" his friend, Alex, shouted, raising his glass.
"To a lifetime of happiness with Ella!" another friend, Jake, added.
Shaun smiled, taking a swig of his drink. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it."
As they laughed and joked, Shaun's phone buzzed. Margo's name flashed on the screen.
"Hey, I need to take this," Shaun said, excusing himself.
"Must be the bride," Alex teased.
Shaun chuckled, walking away. "Nah, just a friend."
Margo's sultry voice greeted him. "Hey, sexy. Ella collapsed. You need to come to her room."
Shaun's instincts screamed it was a lie, but he couldn't resist. "What's going on?"
"Don't worry, I'm with her. Just get here," Margo purred.
Shaun's resolve crumbled. He knew he shouldn't go, but his desire for Margo won out.
When he arrived at Ella's room, Margo waited, naked and seductive. They kissed, and Shaun's desire took over. He made love to her with a fierce intensity, as if it would be their last time. Guilt gnawed at him, but he couldn't deny the thrill.
Margo had always satisfied him in ways Ella never could. Their passion was raw, unbridled.
Ella's sudden arrival caught them off guard. Margo's plan had been to snap incriminating photos to send to Ella, but fate delivered an even more devastating blow.
As Margo left the room, she went to her own room dressed and went back to the party like nothing happened.
she was thrilled that her plan had worked, the couple would never proceed with the wedding. But on second thought, Ella's love for Shaun made calling off the wedding unlikely.
Later that night, Ella returned to the party, her heart heavy with the weight of Shaun's betrayal. She tried to pretend everything was fine, but her smile felt forced, her laughter hollow.
Seeing Ella return to the bridal shower, unaffected, confirmed Margo's suspicions.
She left the party again and dialed Shaun's number again. This time, he hesitated before answering.
"What do you want, you heartless i***t?" Shaun snapped. "You planned all this. Stop calling me. Ella and I must move forward, and that's final."
Margo laughed seductively on the other end of the phone, then composed herself. "Okay, we need to talk."
Shaun's frustration grew. "About what? You want it again, don't you? Don't you ever get tired?"
Margo's voice dripped with sensuality. "I do get tired, but with you, I can't."
Shaun was about to end the call, but Margo continued, "That's not why we need to talk."
Shaun's curiosity piqued despite himself. "What is it, then?"
Margo's tone turned mysterious. "You'll find out soon enough."
As the night wore on, Ella's anxiety grew. She couldn't face the thought of being alone, so she asked her sister if they could share a room.
"Hey, sis, can I sleep with you tonight? I'm getting nervous about tomorrow," Ella lied, trying to conceal her true emotions.
Her sister's brow furrowed with concern. "Are you okay? You've been acting weird since you got back from getting your phone."
Ella faked a smile. "I'm fine, just nerves. Tomorrow's a big day."
As her sister drifted off to sleep, Ella lay awake, tears streaming down her face. She envied her sister's peaceful slumber.
The grand ballroom of the luxurious Belle Époque Hotel was transformed into a fairy tale setting for Ella and Shaun's special day. Soft, golden lighting illuminated the crystal chandeliers, casting a warm glow on the elegantly dressed guests. The sweet scent of roses and lavender wafted through the air, mingling with the gentle hum of excitement.
Bride's Dressing Room
Ella stood before the mirror, her reflection stunning in the bespoke lace gown. Her sister, Rachel, adjusted the delicate veil, securing it with a sparkling tiara.
"You look breathtaking, sis," Rachel whispered, tears welling up in her eyes.
Ella's hands trembled as she grasped her bouquet, a mix of white roses and baby's breath. Her mind wandered to Shaun, wondering if he was having second thoughts.
Shaun on the otherhand adjusted his cufflinks, his eyes locked onto Alex, his cousin and best man.
"You're really doing this, cuz?" Alex asked, his brow furrowed with concern.
Shaun nodded, his jaw clenched. "I have to."
Alex handed Shaun a flask. "For luck."
Shaun took a swig, the whiskey burning his throat.
As the guests took their seats, a subtle divide became apparent. Ella's family and friends occupied the left side of the hall, beaming with joy and anticipation. Shaun's family and friends filled the right side, their faces etched with varying degrees of enthusiasm and skepticism.
As the string quartet began to play the wedding march, Margo slipped into the back of the hall, her striking figure commanding attention. Her emerald green dress hugged her curves, and her piercing gaze swept the room. Ella's heart skipped a beat as their eyes met, a fleeting moment of tension passing between them.
Ella took a deep breath and stepped onto the aisle. Her eyes scanned the sea of faces, searching for Shaun.
Ella's mother, resplendent in a champagne-colored gown, smiled proudly as she gazed at her daughter. Shaun's mother, dressed in a sleek black suit, seemed more subdued, her eyes darting between her son and Ella.
Ella's thoughts swirled:
What if he doesn't show up?
What if Margo reveals the truth?
What if I'm making a mistake?
Rachel smiled encouragingly from the front pew, but Ella's fears lingered.
As she approached Shaun, their eyes met. For a fleeting moment, Ella saw a glimmer of uncertainty, but Shaun's expression smoothed into a charming smile.
Ella's heart skipped a beat. Was she marrying a man who truly loved her, or one who was settling for convenience?
The priest welcomed the guests, and Ella's thoughts drifted to her parents, beaming with pride.
The priest's voice brought Ella back to reality. "Is there anyone who has something to say, let them speak now or forever remain silent?"
A hush fell over the hall. Ella's heart racing, her eyes locked onto Margo, her mind racing with fear.
What if Margo stands?
What if she reveals the truth?
The priest continued seeing that no one had something to say.
"Do you, Shaun, take Ella to be your lawful wedded wife, till death do you part?"
Shaun's gaze locked onto Ella's, his smile faltering. Then, in a stunning reversal, he uttered a single word: "No."
Shaun turned and rushed out, leaving chaos in his wake. His parents called after him, "Shaun! Shaun!" but he was gone.
Alex chased after him.
Ella's face crumpled, and she burst into tears. Guests murmured in disbelief, rising from their seats as reality sunk in. The wedding was off.
As people filed out, whispers turned into urgent conversations. Social media ignited with sensational news, hashtags trending: #WeddingFail #ShaunAndElla #JiltedAtTheAltar.
Influencers seized the story, spinning theories and analyses. "What went wrong?" "Was it cold feet or a deeper issue?" The public's fascination grew.
Ella ran out of the church, unmarried and heartbroken, unable to shake off the shock. Yesterday, she thought everything was settled. She thought Shaun truly loved her.
''it seems the ceremony has been terminated.Let us pray''
The priest's voice cut through the din.
