Valerie was engrossed in the questioning. Initially, she had been against questioning Michael like he was some common criminal, but now, the sudden turn of events left her dizzy.
Michael had, all by himself, just referred to the night in the parking lot. Valerie’s head was screaming with questions. The loudest of them being: just how did Michael know about that night?
Had he been there?
And if he had… what the hell had he been doing there?
Dazed, Valerie didn’t notice Officer Stark lean into her.
“So…” he whispered. Valerie caught a whiff of mint and tobacco on his breath as she turned to face him. “Roman really got the hots for you?”
She stared at him, unable to answer the question and then slowly turned back to look at Michael, leaving Stark to chuckle at his own question.
