The boardroom was silent, Davis, Stark, Tanaka and Roman all listening attentively to the recording. The breathy voice that had spoken into Roman’s ear filled the boardroom, its chilly words being absorbed by the Detectives.
When the recording came to an end for the third time, Davis clicked a button, pausing it.
“This is a horror movie,” Tanaka whispered. He wasn’t even supposed to be at the station at that moment. He'd dropped by for another case and had gotten dragged into the room to hear the recording. Now he wasn’t so sure if he wanted to go home to his dark, shadowy apartment anymore.
