WILLIAM
The moment I stepped in wide the door to the private room slammed shut behind us.
“What the hell is wrong with you, William?”
Coach Daren’s voice thundered through the space. He ripped the badge from his chest and tossed it onto the table as it offended him.
I could only roll my eyes, I finally left the one I so badly want to be with because of them and now this is the reaction I am getting like without me they couldn't just accept the gifts.
“You won. You wanted to celebrate your way, fine. But you do not keep the President waiting.” This made me stop walking.
My fingers twitched at my sides as I slowly turned to face him. My chest felt tight, hot, like I had been dragged away from something that actually mattered.
I should have been with her right now.
Instead, I was here because he would not stop calling and threatening. This made her finally snap and shove me out of the apartment just to get some peace.
“Coach,” I said, my voice flat. “I do not need your statement.” His eyes widened.
“You are the one desperate to look good in front of the President,” I continued, taking a step closer. “I do not give a damn about that.”
“William!” he barked, striding toward me.
Before he could reach me, Victor, my best friend, stepped in front of him, hands up, calm but firm.
“Coach,” Victor called out evenly. “You should be used to this side of him by now. Getting mad every time won’t change anything.”
Coach Daren dragged a hand down his face and exhaled hard. He looked past Victor, straight at me.
“You need to talk to him,” he said, his tone sharper now. “This attitude cannot continue. He is at the peak of his career and he needs a clean image for his future.”
I rolled my eyes and leaned back against the wall.
Future? As if this life was ever my choice.
“I will talk to him,” Victor said quickly. Coach Daren hesitated, then nodded once. “Better.” Then he turned and left.
The moment the door closed, Victor grabbed my arm and pushed me back onto the couch.
“What the f**k is wrong with you?” he snapped. “Do you even hear yourself? You are taking this too far.” I yanked my arm free.
“She is nothing serious,” he continued. “She is just a b***h you are playing with for now. You cannot let that destroy your career.” I lifted my head slowly.
The look in my eyes made him freeze.
“Do not ever use that word for her again,” I said quietly, earning a low scoff from the corner.
“That word?” Simone, my other buddy, pushed off the wall, arms crossed. “Isn’t she a plaything?”
“Simone!” I warned
He walked closer, raising his hands in mock surrender. “She is someone’s fiancée and she is playing around so what does that make her?” My fist tightened at this moment.
“Relax. You are flaring up again. We get it, you don't want us to use that on her, so don’t let your madness ruin the team.”
I jumped off the couch stepping forward, ready to swing at the jerk face but Victor grabbed my wrist instantly. “Don’t you dare… There are cameras around.” Victor let out nervously.
I jerked free from him, “Mind your words because next time I won't be merciful.” I warned and stormed out.
The cool night air hit my face as I reached my car. I yanked the door open and slid inside, my hand already on the ignition. As if he hadn't ruined my mood enough, the passenger door opened and Victor got in.
“Get out,” I growled out.
Instead, this dude buckled his seatbelt like he owned the car. “I am coming with you. If not, you will start drinking or smoking. Your face is everywhere right now. One mistake and your dad will lose his mind.”
I slammed my palm against the steering wheel at this moment, he always knew the right words to make me weak.
“Let me drive,” he told me and I just blew out a rasp of air, getting out without arguing as we switched seats.
The moment I settled into the passenger side, I unlocked my phone and smirked seeing she had checked my gallery. I opened it and my gallery filled the screen with angry looks and beautiful eyes.
I typed fast on my phone, not able to hold it in anymore. “Meet me at the villa. I will be alone.”
I leaned back and closed my eyes. Every moment with her ended in chaos or her throwing annoying words at me.
The only time she isn't cursing at me is when she is moaning under me.“Texting her again?” Victor asked, now glancing at me.
“Eyes on the road and stop nosing into my business,” I fired back at him.
He sighed loudly and still proceeded. “I will say it again, don't let this get into your head. You need to end this and…”
“Victor.” I straightened, my voice cold. “I know exactly what I am doing so stop reminding me.”
He glanced at me again before his eyes turned back to the road.“Are you sure you are not falling? Is she beginning to make you lose control?”
“Stop the car.” I barked out.
“Not here,” he declared calmly. “Every camera is watching you.” and at the same time, my phone buzzed.
I looked down.
“I am not coming. I need to spend time with my fiancé. We are visiting his parents.”
My fingers tightened around the phone until my knuckles turned white.
“She rejected you tonight,” Victor said lightly.
I let out a bitter chuckle now glaring at my buddy. “Shut your mouth or I will make sure to rearrange your face?”
“The cameras,” he reminded me. I shut my phone off and stared out the window.
The road lights blurred past as the silence stretched until he broke it again.
“Don’t forget,” he said quietly. “After the tenth night, you will have nothing to do with her.”
“Victor.”
“You know what your father is capable of,” he added and I bit down hard on my lip and said nothing as the car kept moving.
