The room was filled with at least 70 men, each more handsome then the next. Like seriously where were all these attractive studs at home the girls would swoon. Ebson stopped in the middle of the hall. Charlotte looked anxiously at the stage when her gaze collided with Derik, he did not look impressed. She had only seen him just last night but her heart leaped at the sight. His black silk hair was slightly shaggy clinging to his neck. Clutching tighter to Ebson’s fur in response to her body’s reaction to seeing Derik Charlotte gaze dropped to her hands where her knuckles were almost white. Realizing she was probably hurting Ebson beneath her. “Sorry" she said panicked suddenly jerking her hands back.

Oh no, she was slipping off Ebson back. Charlotte was already regretting letting go of his fur as she tightly squeezed her eyes shut awaiting a pain from falling. Realizing quickly what happening Ebson phased back to human form catching her in his arms, “are you ok little female?”

As Derik moved forward to help Charlie, Astro had grabbed his arm pushing him back to his place on the stage.

Opening her eyes, Charlotte realized she was in Ebson’s arms. She quickly struggled free of his hold using a cold tone to say, “I’m fine.”

A deep laugh left the stage coming from Astro. “haha, what a fine pairing. Have you made your decision already Charlotte?” Before Charlotte even had a chance to respond with a definite no Astro continued. “Dear Charlotte my name is Astro, I am the leader of this clan. We welcome you and give you choice of the males in this hall".

Before Charlotte could say anything it appeared to the males around her that this was their chance to be noticed. Immediately men surrounded her, getting right up in her personal space. Someone placed their hand on her back, jerking away from the touch she turned around swinging her arm to hit someone. That someone took her hand in theirs before she could make contact, “Do you want to pick me" the male was delighted.

Yanking her hand out of his grip, “No, don’t touch me” she cried out.  

Derik could see the distress layering her features. She was frightened, but he was not allowed to move to her. Was this why Astro had asked him to stand with him.

Even Ebson could tell she was scared. Stepping forward in a protective stance he growled causing the males to stop in their tracks and take a few steps back. He turned to Charlotte, “you must make your pick, kiss your chosen male".

Shaking like a leaf Charlotte took a step back from Ebson. Tripping over her own foot she fell backwards. 3 beasts lurched forward to grab her before she hit the floor. Once again pulling away from the people touching her Charlotte nearly had a break down. Tears fell from her face while her body continued to shake. Knowing Derik was still there on the stage Charlotte fell to her knees in defeat and yelled out in an emotionally broken voice, “Derik.”

Before his name even fully left her lips Derik’s warm arms banded around her pulling her up from the floor. Kneeling back down in front of the standing still trembling Charlotte, “Charlie, I offer myself to you as your beast guardian.”

Everyone seemed dumbfounded. Derik had turned down every guardian offer he had received, but now he bowed his head and offered himself.

Charlotte moved forward immediately getting as close as she could to Derik which placed his head under her breasts while placing her hand gently on his bowed head. However she remained silent. Derik lift his head while placing his hands on either side of her waist holding her back so he could look up to see her face. Still crying she was shaking her head.

Was she rejecting him? Derik’s heart felt like it tore in to pieces as males around him started to laugh. Wild Beast he heard some males mutter as they continued to mock him. He released his hands from Charlie only to sense Ebson approaching. Derik snapped turning and hitting Ebson so hard in the chest that he flew clear across the room and into the wall. A loud bang sounded as the building slightly shook from the force.

Astro shouted in a commanding tone, “Derik".

Eyes glowing golden Derik sunk to the floor in defeat. Not bothering to dodge out of the way as someone darted towards him, Derik looked up to see the impending danger. This danger happened to be Charlie. What does she want now, whatever it was he would just accept it. He could not feel anymore pain then he was already in.
