Chapter 17 – Is he here?

He watched and was almost captivated as realization seemed to hit the little female in his arms. Immediately reaching up she held her mark caressing her fingers over it. A shiver seemed to overwhelm her as she closed her eyes in seemingly utter bliss. The rest of trip to the clan she didn’t seem to detach her hand from her mark, maybe she didn’t know he thought. Many eyes watched intently as Arron carried the mud covered injured Charlotte into the village. He headed straight for the healers home. As soon as he reached the porch she wiggled free of his hold stepping a few steps back keeping her distance from him. Anger rose at the loss of her touch, Arron bit back a low growl in his throat. The healer already alerted to their presence opened the door. He was the oldest man Charlotte had seen in this place so far. “Come quickly my child, you are hurt”. The healer turned to the male who had escorted Charlotte, “Arron go to Jenna and get a new fur for her, now”. He used a commanding tone making sure Arron would complete the task.

Derik felt Charlotte again, she seemed safe. Still hurt, but safe. She appeared to be in the Water Tribe, well this is not going to go well he thought. Keeping his current pace he could probably get there in 2 hours. Trying his best to increase his speed Derik willed himself to go faster at the thought that another male may lay their dirty paws on his precious Charlie.

Charlotte was very taken with Cumin the healer of this village, he was very kind and seemed to know Johnston which was comforting. He had set up a bath for Charlotte which she happily accepted her whole body was itching at the dried mud covering her skin. Getting in, her cuts stung against the water. Cleaning herself as fast as possible while touching her mark every few seconds, for Derik she jumped out the water drying herself and placing on the fur dress provided for her. She almost ran out the room to join cumin, “has he come yet?” Hope blanketed her face.

“Not yet child sit down and have something to eat”. Gesturing to Arron still with curiosity at why he was still here, “Arron just fetched the food for you”.

“Arron”. Charlotte repeated, “thankyou for the food and helping me Arron, my name is Charlotte it is nice to meet you properly”. Arron was in shock since the moment she ran from the other room, she was breathtakingly beautiful. He immediately regretted saying he was not interested in her, this was in fact the first female he has ever been interested in. She was pure, innocent, beautiful and seemed to have a deep care for at this point only partner. Looking at the cuts and bruises he felt terrible for her, too afraid to offer assistance at the thought of being rejected.

Cumin knowing Arron’s personality spoke before he could answer thinking Arron would take this opportunity to leave anyway. Now that Cumin knew her name, “So Charlotte do you want me to fix those cuts, or we can have a young male come in to help you”.

“No”, the words shot out her mouth quick as lightening. “umm my partner should be here soon, he will help me”. Remembering the last time when Derik healed her wounds, Charlotte’s face went a deep red. There was no way she would let another man lick her body.

Surprising even himself Arron asked, “Charlotte if you know wounds can be healed how could you not know about touching your mark to communicate with you mate?”

Charlotte bit her lip, “When I came here my mate found me and I was hurt so he healed me. We only umm got together yesterday so I’m new to the bond thing.” Anger once again seemed to flow through Arron, realizing now he wished he had not told her about the mark. Then she could have stayed with him longer, maybe he could even mark her. Desire flowed through his body at the thought of her underneath him, or even just next to him. f**k he would take whatever he could get.

Surprised at her rejection of a new young male, Cumin changed the topic. “So how to you know Johnston?”

Charlotte smiled brightly bringing her hand to her mark once again. Both the males now noticing her doing it constantly, seemingly very eager for her partner to find her. “Derik’s good friend is Johnston he was actually speaking with Derik when I was taken by a giant bird”, Charlotte frowned remembering the incident.

Cumin raised his eyebrows, “Derik, wild beast Derik. The tiger with the scars, the damaged” he added. Clearly he was trying not to chuckle.

Charlotte’s eyes darkened, “don’t speak about him that way”. Her tone was harsh and uncompromising, “sorry, I appreciate your help. Derik is important to me and I don’t like people speaking badly of him. He is mine”.

“Why would such a perfect female like you…” Realization hit Cumin’s face, “you’re from Earth aren’t you?” Still reeling from Charlotte’s reaction to Cumin mentioning Derik and realizing her partner was that beast, Earth caught Arron off guard completely. Cumin rose from the table, “Charlotte, I’m sorry but you must come with me to the clan leader”. Arron shot up understanding how this situation would unfold, the Water Tribe undoubtably was have many issues with Astor’s Stone Tribe. Mainly over females and Charlotte was a rare gem, she was from Earth a pure female. She had no beast in her at all, she would be a great asset to the clan. They would keep her here and mate her against her will if they had too.  

Feeling something was definitely out of place Charlotte brought her fingers to her mark once again her anxiety flowing through to Derik. A loud roar sounded in the distance; Charlotte stood immediately heading for the door. Cumin caught her arm, “I’m sorry Charlotte, but you won’t be leaving with Derik”.
