I couldn’t stop the tears from escaping. I opened the card.

My dearest Andréa,

My little bug, today is your 18th birthday. If you’re reading this then I am not with you my darling girl. I am so, so sorry for that. Today of all days will be especially hard for you, but know that I am with you always. The day you were born was the happiest day of my life, you brought me so much joy and happiness word cannot describe. That night I had a dream, a visit from the moon goddess herself, Selene. She came to me and told me that you were going to be special, that you bear her mark. Stop Andréa, you won’t find it until your first shift. I know you bug, you were looking. I never told your father because I knew he would keep you locked up thinking he was protecting you. I wanted you to be free, free from the burdens that will come from this. I know with me gone you have closed off your heart, but my love be open to the possibilities that this world has to offer. Take a leap of faith. I know you; you probably have resentment towards your father but forgive him. He tries. Moongoddess knows he tries. Be patient with him, he can’t help it. It is genetically written in his code. There’s that giggle I love so much. Promise me Andréa you’ll take care of him, make sure he doesn’t mourn me forever. He has so much more love to give, the both of you do. I love you my beautiful girl.

I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing, I missed my mom so much. I got up from the floor and ran out of my room, down the stairs, past my father. I ran into the woods, I just kept running. When I finally stopped, I was at the pond, where the daises bloom. When I finally caught breath, I took it all in. I haven’t been able to come here since my mom died. I walked over to the field of daisies and sat on a rock just listening to the wind and watching the water fall. I feel a gust wind envelope me like a hug. Mama! I closed my eyes and feel the warmth of the wind. I don’t know how long I have been sitting here for but I feel a sort of buzzing in my head and I try to focus on it. The noise finally comes through clear enough and its my wolf. Andréa, I have been trying to get your attention all day. You had a block on me. Are you okay? I am so sorry Bells I didn’t know. I just have a lot going on. I know you do, I felt everything you were feeling. You’re not alone you have me, you have your dad, your friends. We got you! I know. Bella are you a descendent from Selene? No. We are. We are special Andréa; we are meant for so much more in this world. What does that even mean? What do you know that you’re not telling me? All in do time. Ugh! Thanks. I didn’t realize the sun has started to set. I get up and dust off my pants and I get this strange feeling that someone is watching me. Bells do you feel that? I do. Be alert, we are not alone. I start looking around trying to see if I see anything. A branch snaps. I turn towards the woods. Whose there? Come out now! I hear a low growl. The huge black wolf comes into view, and the one thing that stands out are his blue eyes. I get a sense of déjà vu. I bring my hands to my mouth.
